Alcove tub/shower combo -- lots of questions

I thought I was nearly done with the design for a full gut & remodel of my upstairs hallway secondary bathroom. I had decided to keep the same footprint but replace the 60"x30"x14" cast-iron tub / shower with a 60"x36" standalone shower. The bathroom is used by my young adult son, who lives with me ... and recently rediscovered his love for the tub.

I have started tub-shopping -- totally confused by the options, especially since most plumbing stores limit the number of alcove tubs they have on display. There are so many negative reviews on each tub that I wonder if people even have bathtubs installed. I have been told (by plumbing stores) to consider HydroSystems or Americh acrylic tubs. Any recommendations?

Also, looking for suggestions on the shower enclosure. My revised plan is to configure the space similar to the photo below, with a pony wall between the tub and toilet, and French-style glass pivot doors on the front of the enclosure, as below:

I would like to have narrow glass panels on each side of the front on which to hinge the pivot doors, see below. I think that leaves me with space only for the minimum width pivot doors, 22 inches each.

We considered the option below with an opening on the front, but too much water would spray outside the shower. I plan to have 3 outlets (SH, HS, and tub spout) as in the photo below.

I suggested a shower curtain -- but that was rejected -- it would require keeping a full partition wall between the tub and toilet.
