dacor distinctive ag range require hood with 600 cfm?
Comments (8)Deeageaux, you just totally burst my bubble. The past three days I've been narrowing down my rangehood selection and I was feeling really good about the Kobe under cabinet CH-191SQB-1. Powerful, quiet, newer LED lighting, looks are ok although wife prefers a more classic pro-canopy look versus the sleeker slightly more modern look of that particular Kobe. Then I read you post above regarding depth. I quickly check and lo and behold, every Kobe ( I looked at 6-7 models, every under cabinet and even several wall mounts that can be under cabinet as well) is only 22" depth. Is this a deal breaker? It seems like a critical thing to me as the most powerful and frequently used burners are on the front. My cooktop with be a 36" 6 burner rangetop, brand not 100% decided but likely Bluestar. I'll have to go back to the drawing board on this selection I guess....See MoreHigh Cfm Range Hood Make Up Air MUA
Comments (4)I suspect the 0.4 factor is intended to account for the fan/blower performance in realistic conditions, particularly conditions that correspond to the small amount of MUA that the formula requires. My comments here have usually assumed a factor of 0.67, but that approximation assumes that imperfect MUA won't lower the interior pressure more than 0.1 inch w.c., there is another tenth lost in the baffles, and a commensurate amount in the hood ducting. One-tenth negative pressure, however, is too much for combustion appliances with air intakes that aren't isolated from the kitchen, or for fireplaces. Note that the Wisconsin formula listed by the OP is for cases without such combustion appliances. If there is an intent to filter the MUA duct for anything smaller than a bat, I would at least taper out to a largish filter so the filter pressure loss will be minimal. A smaller sized furnace filter would do, or a window screen if large enough (perhaps two square feet). When arguing for a four-inch duct because it can move X CFM, one has to consider what pressure loss will occur at that CFM. I think six-inch would be better in this case unless the duct length will be very short. kas...See MorePlease help me figure out best kitchen layout?
Comments (13)Wow, so many replies so quickly! Thank you. I will try to answer all the questions but I might miss something... * In our part of Texas, there are NO basements because the water table is simply too high. * We also do not have a garage. * The laundry room is too small to steal any space from (the washer and dryer back right up to the kitchen's adjoining wall) nor is there any room in there for the freezer. * Totally agree about the wasted space 'down south'. My ultimate dream would be to bump out the wall and build a 'great room' there with tons of windows to catch our spectacular sunsets. * With 4 kids always in and out for drinks, balls, or potty breaks, or for hubby to get to his grill or the shed, the back door really is used very regularly. And yes, it really is only a 30" aisle. * The entry/front door measurements are a bit off since I started too near the top of the paper and ran out of room, lol. The entry itself is 53" (of which the open front door cuts into by 36"), but there is a framed walkway into the kitchen/DR which only measure 46" W , if that makes sense. It really is a bizarre layout. I apologize for the crude sketch - I know I need to do it properly in some online software or something but I still need to learn how. :)...See MoreHelp with 30 pro range but limited to 400 CFM hood?
Comments (8)I love the range Lizzie! We had and OTR microwave when we first installed the range. It would come on automatically every time I used a burner. I didn't even know it had a default to come on automatically (had been using it for 5 years), and EVERY time I turned on the range, the fan in the OTR started. We quickly decided that the OTR wasn't going to work and we had to get a hood. We actually have MORE room with the hood as it is only 10" deep (about 6" shorter than the microwave). But yes, we did have to get a counter microwave and put it in a corner. Are your cabinets already installed? I wanted an under COUNTER microwave, that hangs from the bottom of the cabinets and still leaves me a little bit of open counter space underneath, but they have to plug in inside the cabinet, and since we were retrofitting everything, we didn't have a plug in the cabinet....See MoreRelated Professionals
