Comments (7)Features are brand and model specific, so a broad generalization is pointless. Re: SZ's line - their 700 series "fully integrated" line is quite old and due for replacement. 10-15 years ago it was cutting edge and defined the segment. Now, there are several competitors with the same integration ability and better features. 700 series does not have water filters built in which is no big deal as you can easily and cheaply add whatever you like. They do not have the gee wiz replaceable air filter cartridges either. If you want the latest tech and design you go with the BI series, (or a Miele/Thermador?Gaggenau) and if you want multiple drawers or proven track record and full integration the 700 series is the ticket. The 700 series allows you to have flush doors across and install at 25" total depth. Can't do that with the BI series....See MoreLiebherr HC2062 Doors and Ice Maker
Comments (24)We have the standalone (counter-depth) Liebherr CS2062, 36" French Door / Double Bottom Drawer Freezer unit. It was delivered and installed in May 2010. Overall we are very satisfied. Yes, we had a bit of a learning curve to follow in switching from our ancient Amana 'American-style' fridge to the Liebherr's Euro configuration: different storage containers (rectangles work best), and some adjustments to how we think about what-goes-where were in order. We are both ~5'4" tall (or short, if you will), but have had little trouble storing and reaching items on the top shelf. We removed one door shelf to create space for tall bottles and have not missed it. As other posters have pointed out, the excellent lighting and clean layout make it easy to see all the contents. Liebherr ain't kidding when they tout the strength of their glass shelves -- we stored a 25lb Thanksgiving turkey in a roasting pan on that top shelf along with the usual load of condiments, beer bottles and the like. There is no gasket mod available to make the CS2062 refrigerator doors self-closing, but we have simply gotten better at closing the doors (or hearing the alarm) -- and we have never seen the temperature deviate from settings, even when the alarm's been on for many minutes. The freezer drawers DO self close, once pushed to within the last several inches of travel. In late November 2010 (i.e., after six months of use) the IceMaker failed as follows: it stopped releasing the frozen cubes into the drawer, instead allowing water to (over?)flow into the drawer and form a single block of ice at the bottom. The IceMaker alarm light blinked, indicating the fault, and we then shut off the IceMaker. We contacted our dealer (Eurostoves), who immediately put Liebherr customer service in touch with us. They have promised a replacement part and installation to be scheduled in 4-5 business days. I will post a followup to detail the repair and results. A note to potential Liebherr buyers that I haven't seen elsewhere, regarding the ongoing cost of ownership: The IceMaker's water filter cartridge, available (not unexpectedly) only from Liebherr, is priced at $65, plus shipping, and must be replaced 2-3 times per year, depending (of course) on the amount of solids in your water and the amount of ice you consume....See MoreSub-Zero fully integrated 27 inch model 700tci
Comments (19)@opaonePurchased and installed in 2013. We have two side by side. One of the freezer arms will not stay in the off position and you have to remember to reach in and manipulate if you want ice. The other freezer is fine. We have had them here 3 times to repair it and they say it is fine. We would also have build up of frost. Bad heating element in freezer has been replaced. The have had to remount the compressor unit most recently. The most annoying problem is that you will open the fridge one day and water is all over the bottom of refrigerator and leaking out. The refrigerator "drains" clog and it causes quite a mess and I have to then have them come out for repairs to take it apart in order to get to the drains. It is always a service charge of $90 just to show up and then the labor and parts usually has it add up from anywhere between $180-400. When they were still under warranty Subzero would pay for the parts....See MoreWet bar refrigerator / freezer / ice maker (True, SubZero, Hoshizaki)
Comments (10)Hi L G, We ended up with all True for the bar appliances. In the living room bar, we ended up doing the True ice Maker and a True beverage center. We opted to put the ice maker here, as opposed to basement bar, since we figured we would use it much more often in the main living area as opposed to basement which is more used for movie watching and parties. So far that has turned out to be a good choice, since with two small children, we aren't hosting as many parties (yet). For the basement bar, we went with a True refrigerator, a True dual zone wine refrigerator, a True freezer, and a Miele dishwasher (Lumen, I think - I can get the exact model if you want). To be honest, so far this bar hasn't gotten a lot of use but we are still settling into the house, and I think it will be great once we are a little bit more up and running. It's been nice having the extra fridges for the beverage and wine storage. Overall we are happy with the selections. The quality and aesthetics are great. As someone recently posted on one of the threads, the True ice maker isn't "whisper quiet". You can hear it filling up water, clearing out drain, and dumping ice into the chamber periodically throughout the day. I honestly don't really notice it, and without basis of comparison, I imagine it's similar if not better than other ice makers due to the nature of the operation, but if appliance noise is a concern, I would definitely try to check out one and see if you are comfortable with the noise level before committing to one. But we've been very happy having it, and having it near the living space means it gets used a lot, and it's super nice making a cocktail and having a fresh supply of clear ice right by everything. Hope that helps, if there's more information that would be useful please let me know. -joe...See MoreRelated Professionals
