Gap between top of shower tiles and ceiling

Our tile guys did a great job tiling but left a gap between the top row of the tiles and the shower ceiling. They're suggesting adding 1/2" of drywall to lower the ceiling, taping, sanding and painting it. We asked about tiling the ceiling and front of the soffit but they said it's a dangerous job especially because of the size of the tiles.

edited to add: The soffit accommodates the plumbing from the condo unit above ours so cannot be eliminated. I'm not certain of the ceiling height. The angle of the photo makes if look as though there isn't a lot of room between the ceiling and the rough-in but it should be adequate.

Is there another way to do this besides adding more drywall? A "crown molding" of sorts would probably look odd because of that extra piece of tile up above on the left and right of the soffit.
