How much space do you have behind your sink?
Comments (22)Kiki2013 -- it depends on the faucet you pick. You are cutting it close but you should make it. You need to measure it yourself to make sure. We did 3.25" from countertop front edge to front of sink, which was what the fabricator said was minimum. Our sink is slightly curved, so 3.25" was only at center -- slightly more as you move out to each side. If you use 3.5", assuming zero reveal and if you have standard counter depth with 1.5" overhang, that would leave you with 4.25" (25.5" - (17.75" + 3.5")) left to the back wall, minus the width of your backsplash. Make sure you are using the right sink measurements. You want the sink inside width, not the exterior measurement (e.g. measure what is visible when you go from front to bank). If you have a positive reveal, add the reveal amount twice (once for front and once for back) to the measurement. I have the Blanco Culina -- I have 1.5" from back of sink to the front of the faucet, the faucet is 1.75" width, and the width of my backsplash is 0.5". That is 3.75". You would want more than 0.5" from the back of the faucet to your backsplash. In our case, we have a window sill behind the sink with a 0.75" overhang beyond the backsplash, so we extended our countertops by 0.75" (to 26.25"). Everything fit in our case but with very little room to spare. You should pick a faucet where the handle doesn't pull back behind the faucet, which could cause your hand to hit the back wall. Comments (9)Two BIG, tall white pedestals in the master bath. Deep bowls and lots of 'laying room' on the surrounds. I love having separate sinks. I tend to clean mine more often than DH cleans his. Our medicine cabinets are big, deep boxes with mirrored backs, set into the walls so that the mirror front is flush with the wall. Some 'stuff' goes in the linnen closet in the bathroom. If you have pedestals you have to have somewhere else to put things. Guest powder room has white pedestal. Powder room off the back hall has a low, deep pedestal -- DGS can reach it without step stool now that he's FOUR! Guest BR bath has while bowl, top mount in a vanity....See MoreWhat do you have at your kitchen sink to hold soap/sponge, etc.?
Comments (48)I use a "berry dish" to hold my sponge. I got mine at Kohl's. It comes in different colors and has drainage slots. I put it on top of my sink corner so that water can drain into the sink. On the other side, I have a tray in a similar color from Pier 1. It's very sturdy and has never chipped, so I went back to Pier 1 and bought a second one to rest my salt and pepper grinders on....See MoreDo you prefer having a sink in your laundry room or not?

Again, I never use it but maybe I will one day....because #fomo That caught my eye and I thought I would comment. If you are in the stage where you can choose things for a new home, I recommend you select a deep sink. Even if you can't imagine using it, and if you never do, you won't have sacrificed much. If just that one time you needed if for something garden related or car related or something in addition to laundry activities, you will be glad you made the decision. Our LR has built in cabinets, and the sink is very deep. We do a lot of landscaping and I wash our automobiles, so it has been very, very useful....See MoreRelated Professionals
