Would these be ok room temp?

If not, any other ideas?

I have a leftover wedge of brie and a few misc jams --- fig, sour cherry, and chili orange. I want to use this stuff up. It was purchased for the holidays and never served.

A group of people I know host Sunday Soirees in the winter; just afternoon get togethers with wine and soft drinks. Not required to bring anything, but people do nibble. All very casual.

Only question --- is there a way to keep these warm w/o going soggy, or are they ok at room temp, or do you have another idea?

I love these kind of pastry bites. To me, the big yum factor is lost at room temperature. Hope somrone has a novel way to keep warm for travel.

How long do you need to keep them warm? If it’s really just for transport and then greeting time this is what works for me.

I have an insulated tote

I get my pizza stone very hot

Place towel in insulated tote

Place very hot pizza stone in tote on top of towel

Place dish of food to be kept warm on pizza stone

Close tote

With the pastry you also have a potential sogginess issue so drape paper toweling over them

"How much do you have in those LED lights? Be honest now :-)" Probably about 26 square feet of plants. Most young, mind you :) There's a ~85W veg chamber (1000 blue LEDs, 100 red, 100 orange, all xmas-lights) and a ~110W grow chamber (100 blue and 100 orange LED xmas-lights, plus a UFO) Or did you mean price? About $110 for the veg chamber and ~$155 for the grow chamber, thanks to diligent ebay-watching. Sure, it's "ghetto" (wood lattice covered in aluminum foil with foil drapes, hanging on clothesline from plant hooks), but hey, it works. :) Here's one week's worth of growth on two pumpkin plants in the veg chamber: The tray behind those pumpkins was put into the chamber right before that first pic was taken; it had been under a single CFL, and had gotten pretty leggy. But even the leggy stuff has been recovering under the LEDs; check out the leaves on this lettuce after 8 days (note the pre-veg-chamber leggy stems): When they went in, they had only one tiny set of true leaves and were lying flat on the ground. I am sorry I made an error in the name , it is actually called Philipsburg Blue-HC159. Also I hear you about no white ceilings, I also like colored ceiing but mostly because my crown moulding seperated the wall and ceiling colors but my question this time is the lack of mouldings therefore what ceiling color? I am going to see if it is not too late to correct my title.

That would be a crud collector on the counter. It would also obstruct usable space. I think it would be easier to use on the wall anyway. On the counter it looks like it is trying too hard to be unique or different. No real purpose.

Lol, sushi the word mash up is a search help I’m sure. I find stuff with the oddest titles on Etsy and finally figured out its to help with their search options. I am getting so frustrated with this cabin. I have no room in this new place for the wine stuff I’ve been collecting for years. There is no dining room which would be the obvious place. What about the screened porch off of my bedroom? My version of a lady cave? We have a bigger connected covered porch for company but my porch is mostly for me. This is the porch, the pink line shows where the divider will be installed when we modify the other portion. I will be left with a space that is about 16’x10”.

I'd be afraid the pastry would go soggy. There are lots of examples of brie and jam and then put the crackers/toasts/whatever on the side.

Do you have a warming tray or griddle? If you can heat them at your destination for a minute in the oven, then put on a warming tray, I think they'd be fine. They would be good room temp, but better if the brie is a bit more runny. I have some warming trays but have used an electric griddle on the lowest setting with a pretty platter on top, too.

I don't think it would work as well if you have to transport instead of heating for a few minutes on-site, but as someone suggested, a pizza stone wrapped in a pretty towel, in the bottom of a nice basket, would work to keep them warm for quite a while.

It's just a wedge so would not look very interesting that way, and moreover I worry that the temperature issues would be even worse .. a congealed mass

However you transport them the condensation will make them soft, if not soggy. i would ask the hostess in advance if you can heat them at their home.

Yeah, i see that suggestion a lot but would only do that with close friends. Now googling "freezing brie," LOL.

I wonder if the brie would work on the dried apricots instead of mascarpone? Skip the jam...

Annie, that is a super idea! You know how I love those.

However, so as not to waste my 8oz of brie, i bought 8oz each of cheddar and havarti and macaroni ... and just pulled these out of the oven.

Brie doesn't have to look interesting. Put it on a nice place with some little dishes of the jams, crackers, toss in something pretty for a garnish. Yum. Simple is underrated.

I would not take a dish to an event that I did not think was pleasing to look at, that's just me.

Plus the brie is in the mac and cheese and the question is now moot!
