Tiny master bathroom forced reno - expand into small m. bedroom?
Comments (12)Tubs are pretty, but if you have one elsewhere in the house I believe you will be much happier in the long run with a big shower. I love my new big shower! It's so nice to have room to dry off. We installed a Solatube in our shower and we had never done that sort of thing before. It was very easy and it does not leak (my big fear). It looks a bit like a decapitated R2D2 on the roof from outside, so keep that in mind. It really brightens the room, even though we have a wall of windows in there already. You cannot see the sky through them, though. The lake view would be a must for me, whether it is in the bathroom or the bedroom. The bigger the windows the better! Obscured glass doors is a brilliant idea. Cutting through the slab and installing new pipes is not rocket science, it's just tedious hard work. If you hire a plumber to do any of the actual pipe work, be sure to check often that all pipes are INSIDE the walls and do not jut into the area where you will be attaching the drywall, and that the drains and toilet flanges are LEVEL. The screws for the toilet should be positioned correctly too. There are a lot of little measurements that can make your life miserable if not done correctly when the plumbing is roughed in. Good luck! Renee...See MoreHow can I fit a larger bathroom and closet into my primary bedroom?
Comments (4)Definitely along the lines of your first option. And try to move the door to the primary bedroom back a foot or whatever so its wall is in line with the rest of the hallway. It’ll make for one less awkward jog and give you more room to walk around the bed and access the new closet....See MoreHow can I decorate my bathroom?
Comments (12)Your room is so neutral, you could add any color you love, in art, towels, rugs. Or if you like the monochromatic look you have, then make similar choices. I'd want a rug in front of the sinks; I like plush, washable. Art in the toilet room, either above the toilet or on the large wall (which I'd prefer so I could enjoy it while using the loo, but I guess men also can enjoy what's over the toilet). And even though mirrors would be an odd choice for the toilet room, I'd be tempted to try some (maybe a collection of antique mirrors) on the large wall across from the window. I'd love to have the view out the window reflected so you could see it from the toilet. (or maybe you can already see out the window when seated)? I like the contrast of the vintage ornate mirrors with your minimalist style, but that might not appeal to you. or one that's more like a piece of art: or one big statement piece (not this color)...See MoreHow can I paint bathroom floor and shower tiles?
Comments (5)Is the tile there now in good shape? What type of tile is it? What color? What color do you plan tp paint the tile? How often does the shower get used and by how many people? How good it looks will depend on the state of the current tile and grout. If it is is poor shape with mildew in the grout, expect it to look similar in short order. If all in good shape and the tile cleaned well, primed correctly with a bonding primer it may last 6 months and it may last years. No true way to tell....See MoreRelated Professionals
