Kitchen backsplash...I am at a loss with color to go with granite
Comments (37)The tiles are a creamy color. It is called Light by Pietra...Florida tiles. I guess that some pieces might have a very slight peach undertone, but more ivory overall. I tried a few other creams and in my kitchen they cast a greyish hue, which did not look good at all. They are tumbled stone, and so far the displays and samples that I have gotten are not too "holey" I don't like that. A little bit is ok, but I have seen some that are very holey. The 4 tiles in the middle are actually just a part of the set of 8 to the right. They go from those nice warm colors, to very white, like the 3rd one in on the top row. That is what I wasn't crazy about...too much variation! I have not ordered any tiles yet, but the ones on the other post are what I was thinking....See MorePlease help with the backsplash, I am clueless
Comments (8)Good advise so far. I like that you are going with calm. It is difficult for us to sometimes get the right color variations on our monitors. I would try to match up the lightest cream colr in the granite. It will also tie in your floor color. If you go with a subway tile, it will tie in the brick in the brick fireplace, although other shapes would do fine too. When you get samples and narrow them down, if you can get quite a few, or even sometimes they have sample boards, that can be helpful as well. What sometiimes happens when you string tile together is that the color can play off itself and you can then get an undertone that you did not see with one tile. For example, some traveertine tiles tht should be beige, give off a pinkish or grayish cast when installed as an entire backsplash....See MoreBacksplash advice - help! I am overwhelmed
Comments (4)dkass... do you have pics of your Yellow River granite? I live in South Florida too and have fallen in love with mustbnuts Yellow River granite slab. It has a light ground with beautiful sand and blue colors running through it; truly like a river. I'm a ways away from choosing my granite but would love some input on good yards/fabricators to go with in our area. Any recommendations that I can put in my mental file? As to your backsplash, I agree that travertine tiles with some glass accents that pic up a color in your stone would look beautiful. Either amber, blue, green, depending on your particular slab. If you're going for a more traditional look I'd consider subway tile. If your style is more contemporary; You might like 4x4 either squared up or on a diamond pattern. Seal the stone and cleaning won't be an issue. Backsplashes dont' take as much abuse as a countertop....See MoreDo I Need BackSplash? Help with Suggestions!

I'll gladly let you snatch that paint brush out of my hand. ha ha. But at the same time if a little tiling will tie up the project, then I'm game. jodi_socal: I'm a little disappointed when you said fire and ice won't work. I just LOVE that F&I BS. But then agin, I think I know all along it's a little too much for my kitchen. Caryscott & petra: Thanks for the picture petra, it says a thousand words. Is spectralight glass tiles? Prices are pretty reasonable. What about that milk green color? will it work? maybe with some garnet pieces sparingly mixed in. I will take some pictures and post two HD Behr's paint card to aid in the discussion of color. Thanks again ALL! Correction: My tiles were Alfagres: Gema4x4: different from what caryscott posted: I loved what caryscott linked:...See MoreRelated Professionals
