Best color for this living room? Want to paint this weekend.
Comments (10)I think the couch is really cute. I just somehow think doing mint green walls, with the orange and greenish couch, leans a bit towards looking like the old '80s teal and dusty rose combo that was every so popular back then. A wall color that is really neutral-ish, yet very rich and saturated with color might be the way to go. The green mock-up walls with the couch, look too much like Grasshopper and Dreamscicle sherbert flavors....See MoreSofa Table Dilemma - what color would look best in my living room?

Comments (15)Beverly, wow thank you for those beautiful renderings. So helpful and definitely food for thought! :) I have decided I will probably be refinishing the floors in a few years to a mid tone (less orangey) brown, because that is what I'm bumping on. The texture in the ceiling is from the weight of these massive beams in the attic. The window is probably a newer addition as the home has changed a few hands since it was built in 1921. I actually don't mind the stone on the fireplace. Maybe I'm crazy but I like it! Thank you again for all your thoughts! Holly, our furniture all rather neutral (think medium to dark woods, mid tone grays). Most added colors or accents are in the blue and gold and silver families). I will have oil rubbed bronze leaning towards black knobs and pulls throughout the house. Liz, I will definitely get a sample of soft focus. I also love your trim/woodwork...bit of sugar is so pretty. Thank you!...See MoreLiving room troubles! Keep it neutral or go with color?
Comments (7)No a pro. I like your neutral options and usually stay clear of pieces that have a shelf life, like en trend shearling chairs that will need expensive cleaning treatments (particularly with muddy, oily paws). The green chair is nice and would coordinate beautifully with your warm leather sofa. However, if you are going for lighter, creamier and more neutral, I would lean in to that heavily and keep the chairs, art and accessories light. Play with the textures so it isn't so flat and with neutrals natural materials are the most beautiful. Your rug and sofa anchor the room so you don't need the other pieces to be too heavy. They should be a good size and scale to "hold" their side of the room. If you love the shearling then get fur skin rugs and drape them over the chairs. They are also en trend and easier to update later when they become worn or you tire of the look. You can get them at any price point. Conversely, the more light and neutral you go with everything you have to balance it against a lighter scale dark table. It's too heavy it could throw your balance off. And you will have to make sure that you use black elsewhere in the room so your table does not feel incongruent. Love your rug choices....See MoreRelated Professionals
