Comments (5)Grassgirl - Do have a look at Kathypass's table. Those wicker baskets can be very usable. I fell in love with and bought on impulse an Ethan Allen coffee table, very large, slightly French lines, pine, with three wicker baskets. Anyone familiar with EA knows this table. Got it home and boy, did it NOT work in my LR. We shifted furniture around and it just would not work. Two days before the EA people were to come and pick it up, DH and I shifted it into the den. Even thought it's huge, it's perfect there. I like the baskets rather than drawers, as they can be accessed from both sides of the table. This was a long drawn-out way of saying that you might consider baskets instead of drawers. An additional source to check might be the Home Decorators catalog (haven't been to their website). Their furniture is relatively inexpensive and they have every conceivable style and finish....See MoreHow Do You Style Your Coffee Table?
Comments (41)We don't use a coffee table in our great room. In the sunroom (which is used like a den) I have a large ceramic bowl that sometimes holds a potted plant, sometimes small grapevine balls, etc. and then a stack of books. Right now a small brass box on top of the stack of books. I don't care for the look of things lined up around the edges of a coffee table. Also, while I like the table to be "useful", I don't like things we use out on display so I love the use of small boxes (hides remotes, eyeglasses if you wear them, pens, notes, etc.) and also trays to corral items. Love your tray arrangement Shee. I like the LOOK of a vase of flowers on the coffee table and have even seen them on ottomans (used as a coffee table I guess) and can only see an accident waiting to happen. LOL Bossyvossy, love your magnifying glass. I have several vintage ones that are displayed here and there in our home....See MoreStyling mantle & coffee table
Comments (4)What is the reason behing the mirror staying? It is reflecting railing, which is not interesting. The books are too short, so I would remove. I would explore choices: 1) all white pieces on the mantel, so it's more cohesive. Right now, the thngs on each side do not relate. 2) if the mirror is hiding something and needs to stay, I would paint frame black or dark brown and change the mirror out for art. I would also change it to horizontal. Then bring more color with accessories. Be sure to vary heights on both sides. Are those live plants on the coffee table? Try clustering them a bit more so they connect. Could do this on a woven/wicker tray to add texture. If not, put one on a book. What is the large piece on the bottom shelf? You could replace with a large basket underneath to keep throws nearby and to soften/add texture....See MoreWhat style/origin is this vintage coffee table?
Comments (3)Looks Jacobean to me. True Jacobean furniture dates from the 1600s, but there was a Jacobean revival running from the emd of the 1800s to the 1950s. Coffee tables were a fairly modern invention, but people have been known to cut ddown the legs of taller tables to make them into coffee tables, which may have happened to your table. Furniture from the 50s had time to get beat up like your table....See MoreRelated Professionals
