Healthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 6/12
Comments (40)Just catching up with this thread. I am in the same boat as Mtn. Incredibly down compared to normal. When all the nonsense in life started, wise old me thought, This is all going to pass soon. Then Covid came, Science will win, I thought. And now, well the problems keep piling up, and science is in a stalemate with the virus. The economy is doing what its doing, which will hurt many people and affect politics. Gun violence, like teen suicides, appears to be contageous. My very deep reserve of optimism is running low. And my response has been pathetic. I just had a slice of Basque cheesecake for lunch (I didn't buy or make it, DS2 is home and he likes the kitchen, darn it. I call him, The destroyer of my good intentions.) Funky, I hope the surgery went super well and your recovery is quick....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 1/1/2023
Comments (57)So glad to hear you are feeling better, Yeonassky! Isn't it amazing how exercise becomes such a part of your daily routine that even when sick you want to get out there! I am not there currently lol.. but I have been in the past and will be again. Best wishes in the new year and with your increments with running and pushups! Prickly what a great feeling to look back at the last year and to see your accomplishments right there in the mirror! What really stands out to me is that you say you feel "strong and fit" ... and that you have significantly reduced your digestive issues. Those are the kinds of changes that impact your quality of life! I am impressed and so happy for you! Well done! And prickly's post reminded me that we all have been here posting and sharing experiences since what? May? It has been so very helpful to have this forum to share experiences, articles, recipes and successes! You all have kept me focused when I want to throw up my hands ... and inspired when I think I just can't eat another cucumber LOL. Thank you all for coming back here week after week! ❤️❤️❤️ So I can't really explain my update this week-- but I am down 4lb since 12/31 --- 3 lb lower than my lowest weight in 2022. I definitely cut back on the indulgences, but I really didn't expect to see any losses-- in fact, I am pretty sure my calories were higher than usual! I can't explain it but I am just really glad to see a loss after 4 months of very slow progress....See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 12/31/2023
Comments (16)Glad to hear that everyone is on a path to getting back on track or making additional improvements! I am back from vacation-- didnt get too far off track but I had way too many cheeseburgers (SO found a place he loves and wanted me to try-- and then we had to compare to another place) and a few too many cocktails but overall did pretty well. I held my weight steady and came back with a renewed interest and resolve in eating well and living healthier! Ive been lazy-- with exercise, with posture, with keeping healthy foods in the house! They all feed off of each other so improving one will increase the likelihood that I improve all! I think I have to start with a focus exercise -- it is the area where I need the most improvement and I think I tend to want to eat better, sit/stand more straight when I am feeling better about my body and movement. I just got a new portable bose bluetooth speaker so I am going to make a few playlists on spotify to use in the basement for different durations for treadmill, jumping rope, elastic band/strength exercises etc. I am also determined to master the stupid weighted hula hoop LOL. I tried a few times early last year and failed -- I am determined to keep it going! I am looking to be more consistent this year -- consistent with everything including losing inches and weight! I turn 60 this year and I want to lose 60 more lb. I am not going to make any resolutions but I think it will help me stay focused and moving in a positive direction when I do feel lazy or overworked or just discouraged. Thanks for starting the thread, GS ... and thanks all for sharing your experiences, everyone! You are all such great support and inspiration!...See MoreHealthy Lifestyle Progress - Week of 12/8/2024
Comments (13)Checking in after a long ansence from health and wellness with good news—the last tiny bit of my incision from July has finally healed, about a week and a half ago. I am now back in the gym and can go into the pool again— indoor pool of couse as between our trip to Scotland and the surgeries I lost the entire outdoor pool season :( I feel good and am also getting better sleep since I started taking a new full spectrum CBD gummy about 30 min before I want to fall asleep. I had already been taking one with my low dose melatonin that tbh did not seem to do anything. I changed brands and—holy toledo— I am asleep and stay asleep for about 7 hours which to me is a gift! We have been eating a lot of party food and restaurant food and while my weight has stayed in the same 3 to 4 lb range I know that won’t last forever; I’m looking forward to the new year of soups and salads! I dropped a pant size somewhere over the past year which is giving me reason to wear all my belts 😎 Off to google the 800 gm challenge and make a gym stop before yet another holiday party tonight. Adding … That was easy to find! I def already eat more than 800 grams of fruit and veg daily and have for the past almost three years, when DH and I decided to lose that pandemic weight and keep it lost. That is an excellent goal for anyone looking to optimize their nutrition....See MoreRelated Professionals
