Comments (6)Regarding fabric shades in kitchens, it depends on how you cook. I have a regular small table lamp with a fabric shade on my kitchen countertop about 3 feet from the gas cooktop and it’s fine. No grease or dirt collects on it. There’s actually more dust on the lampshades in the bedrooms than in the kitchen....See MoreBreakfast Nook Ideas
Comments (7)For ease of gettng in and out of the space, and because of the door on the right, the optimal seating arrangement for conversation and warmth is 2 facing the window, and 2 with their backs to the window. Is that enough? To make it comfortable for those with their backs at the window, extending the seat past the table edge on both sides is best. Getting a sufficiently long armless settee with a back would accomplish this, and they also sell dining benches and banquettes with back that are armless. But look for ones that seat 3 or 4 for optimal ease of getting in or out. A custom built banquette could be very lovely, and have storage underneath, and if made with a curve could give you seating for 3 on the banquette and 1 chair facing. But you'd have to deal with the windows plus it is lot more expensive than just buying a very nice upholstered piece. You need something more like a settee than a sofa for dining....See MoreI need help with my breakfast nook.
Comments (21)How high is the adjacent window off the floor? Is there enough height to build in a banquette? If you have at least 17", you could have a 3-inch cushion made so the banquette height is at 20". If that's the case, then do that and get a longer table, either oval or rectangular to make everything more proportional. If you don't have enough height from the window, then get a longer settee with a rectangular/oval table. Options: Or: Note in the built-in option above they added in drawers for extra storage....See MoreRelated Professionals
