Any thoughts on mixing stainless & black kitchen appliances?
Comments (2)It's not unreasonable to mix black and SS if you like the look. On the other hand, are you sure you can't find a SS fridge with black sides. My 8 year old KA fridge is SS but the sides and trim are black. You can also find a few fridges that have SS on all sides....See MoreMixing stainless and black appliances
Comments (7)It probably depends on the configuration of your kitchen and what's most visible from any given angle. If you have a dark granite, your cooktop might blend in fairly well if it's black. I have a mix of stainless and black. The double oven, fridge, microwave and sink are all stainless, and the dishwasher and cooktop are black. The dishwasher is behind the peninsula so it's not visible from the eat-in area, and the cooktop blends into the granite. The cabinet pulls are satin nickel....See MoreKitchen cabinet paint help
Comments (6)I would never go to the trouble, expense and difficulty of painting those cabinets if I am going to redo the kitchen in a few years. A total waste of money. Of course it’s yours to waste if you want, but to me it’s like throwing money out the window (or toward the painter). Several thousand that could instead go to your kitchen renovation. The only thing I’d do right now in that kitchen is change out the black appliances since they suck the light, and replacing them with stainless steel appliances. Stainless is reflective and has a nice gleam. If in a few years when you re-do the kitchen the appliances don’t fit with your new layout, donate them to Habitat for Humanity which would love to get almost-new appliances....See MoreMixing Black Stainless Steel with Stainless Steel appliances
Comments (3)There are a number of posts on this forum with people unhappy with the lack of durability of black stainless steel. It is evidently just a painted-on finish. It can consequently peel and scratch easily. If I were you, I'd choose all stainless steel. Also avoid the "fingerprint-resistant" stainless steel. It is also another coating that can scratch and spot. Just get stainless steel....See MoreRelated Professionals
