Need help furnishing living/family room
Comments (1)Without seeing photos of the room, I’d say put the tv on the 13 ft. Wall and the sectional against the other long wall with the other side with its back toward the stairs. Is that squiggly line a window? A single chair might fit between the sectional and the room that has a d in it. Coffee table in front of the sectional, end table with lamp in the corner where the two long walls meet. Maybe a floor lamp where the sectional halves meet, an arc lamp if your style will support it. photos of the space would help. If you make furniture templates to scale you can rearrange them on the plan without straining your back or making purchases that don’t work....See MoreNeed help furnishing awkward living room!
Comments (4)Why not put a pair of comfy armchairs flanking the fireplace? Style the shelves with 1/3 books, 1/3 large decor items and 1/3 open space. Are there any outlets there for lighting? Put TV on the long wall where the black chair is. Set it on a credenza 25% wider than the TV. Float a small scale sofa perpendicular to the stair and fireplace with a coffee table in front of it. Put a console or sofa table on the wall behind the sofa with two lamps and art. Leave a 30" traffic path between sofa and table if possible. Art 5" above the mantle no wider than the firebox opening. No need for a ceiling fixture; just upgrade lighting to 4000K LEDs for daylight feeling night or day. Is there lighting in the stairwell? It needs some. Straight leg chairs will be best because splayed legs will block the traffic path and be hazardous. Not sure an egg chair will work there but its fun. Too tall and big I think. Go for a low profile like the green one and you can fit a pair of them in....See MorePlease help me furnish and decorate my living room!!
Comments (25)Hello italmover, I knew those pics would put everything in perspective! I stood on my kitchen bar to take them...yikes! I agree what you said about the two different chairs..it will looks more interesting. And that rug is great! That’s exactly what I was considering....maybe abit more navy blue? My dh says no to keeping the brown ottoman, but we shall see...methinks he is tired of brown...lol. I can see how it may tie in very nicely. The cabinetry will stay as it is built ins with the fireplace. I believe some side tables will put everything together nicely. Thank you so much for your input....you have no idea how much this is appreciated. I appreciate each and every idea...it helps me to look at my space through different eyes. 🤓...See MoreNeed help furnishing big living room
Comments (5)Your seating area needs to join your fireplace. Larger rug, orientate the furniture so you have a cozy space in front of the fire. The run around/games/play area I would have behind the couch I would use as a room divider of sorts. A proper games table could one day set where the coffee table is now. While shutters are very private they will never give a room the softness, warmth, color of proper curtain panels. I would add a panel where the verticals stack to hide them away....See MoreRelated Professionals
