Thank you for the feedback! I like this layout. We chose to have carpet in the living room for the little ones. So that’s why there is the floor line between the dining and living room. I think your layout will look nice on carpet though!

Please all one flooring and area rugs so much nicer and not gross under the rug after little ones spill god knows what that just gets trapped underneath.Why are you insisting on a poor choice for kids that will grow up and you will be stuck with a yucky carpet and now can't find matching flooring . PLease all the same floor now. I have had only one house with carpet when we moved in and I will tell you never agin kids or no kids it was so gross when we ripped it out . At least area rugs can be cleaned and put back down for a nic eclean place for the kids .As for furniture we need info as to what you need for seating . I dislike seactionals they are an expensive way to buy the least number of comfy seats Ideally a sofa and 2 chairs are the a great choice . A2' walkway never a good plan Are you planning TV in this space ? I do not think furniture in front of widows is abad thing but we need info. How many people do you need to seat? A sectional will eat up your space - quickly!

I am in the never carpet camp. When we bought our current house we pulled up 10 year old carpet from the family room and what was underneath was disgusting. i shudder to think about it. I also have a 12 and 14 year old and they grew up with hardwood and marble with carpets and they are still here and kicking.

Damn, y’all are opinionated about carpet! I’m not opposed to not doing a sectional. I think we could make a couch, loveseat, and chair work. Maybe the couch facing the fireplace, chair at an angle in front of the window, and loveseat against the other wall? The TV will be mounted above the fireplace.

Side note-I reached out to our builder to see if we can change the floors. It would be all LVP.

Btw? there's no point in a love seat. It's the same space taken as two chairs, Two people will sit in TWO chairs. Generally? Only ONE will sit in a loveseat. It creates another "wall" of upholstery versus a more open look. I'd not waste my money

If....... YOU WANT THE CUDDLE sectional? Have it. Just know they take planning and are forever unable to be reconfigured. Does it matter at the level of quality that most folks buy these? Maybe not. Because most purchased online, with a mouse click, are ready for the curbside in a maximum of four years.

What I did above is not rocket science nor impossible for any homeowner.

Everything you put in a room has a dimension! Matters not a couch, a chair, a recliner or a coffee table.

Get yourself some graph paper - 1/4 inch to one foot. Then ask, what SIZE couch. What size recliner? WHAT HAPPENS when I try that? What is the length, the width, the depth of this thing I am considering?

When you try as you suggested just now? At 1/4 inch to ONE FOOT SCALE? You will find you are going to need a much shorter sofa, and it isn't going to longer than 72 inches, which is a loveseat, and you just walled off the room : ).

If you want a sofa instead of a sectional and arrangement light this could work.

Again the TV could be mounted over the fireplace or on the far wall. Of course the wall will allow you to view a much larger TV screen than over the fireplace.

Daily, just my husband and I and our one child. We do occasionally have family over in which case we’ll need to seat 5-6.

Well everyone can't face the screen directly unless you have a theatre room which doesn't lend the layout to conversation.

When you have family over, do you visit or watch TV or play a board game or put a puzzle together? Do you all sit together or break up into groups when in the living room?

I was given a sectional and find it very inflexible. I find a sofa too long to be flexible. A love seat saw many quiet conversations with kids, and I've napped on it many times, but I'm short.

Lately I've liked the idea of a low table and four chairs or a pair of live seats. But Jan's right about number of seats. I hope a living room can be more than just a seat counting, because I want to live in my living room, not just sit.

Ah, decisions are so satisfying! Have you pictures? Rug, coffee tables, end tables and lamps. Can I suggest you get end tables with drawers, or get a console, something with storage. Otherwise clutter abounds.

Great idea! Our furniture is beige and upholstered in boule fabric (Parklynn Sofa) with wooden legs. We love natural earthy tones so I’m thinking a darker beige rug, with olive green accents (throw pillows), and dark wood coffee table and end tables.

Oh boy. I'm probably not going to be able to help much more. I'm a color gal! But I am happy you found furniture you like, and glad to have mentioned storage furniture. I still look forward to seeing pictures when your furniture is delivered.
