We were able to match the mortar color pretty well and ended up with Coventry Gray. It's not too warm, and not too "blue" or "purple" which was how some of our other test colors ended up. It's also lighter so it doesn't fight with the awkward brick and roof colors, like @la_la Girl mentioned! This visualizer pic seems pretty awful lol, in real life it's a nice match to all the elements. Thank you all for your help!

It's hard to overemphasize how much natural wood, and brown tones, soak up light. Here in Texas that is usually a good idea; but this combo, you're right, is pretty blah. The good news: LUSH views and privacy! First, i would ask what are your favorite colors, and what looks good on you. Colors of nature are always harmonious with leafy views, such as creams, beiges, aqua, sage green, blue, and even golds. I'll risk offending you since we don't know each other. ; ) I would paint ALL of the trim that is currently natural wood white, or off-white. I would take those dark rugs off the stairs. Might even throw in the kitchen cabinets, too. Painted wood reflects light and thus feels more 'cheerful.' Natural wool area rugs, and/or sisal/seagrass, would bring much needed texture; and then replace the brown accent wall with a color you like better. Then it won't feel all so brown. And take down all of the artwork, which echoes the dark tones. Finally, you might check FB marketplace or something for a folding screen or other item to gently divide some of that wide open space, to make furnishings seem more intimate. Bargains galor there! Good luck your home is lovely. (If budget allows maybe lift off those black counters?).

I value your expertise. @ Sigrid, I like the idea of a soft peach because I rhought the house would just glow with the sun shining on it from sunrise toafter noon. However, there is no paint option for that color so I am thinking of staying close to what is there currently. There are some orange/golds available, but a gold house just does not appeal to me. I will sample a creamier white. The current trim is skightky more creamy compared to the white downspout, but I can look for another option. I would like to avoid a yellow cream. Thank you for your advice! @Lyn and la_la Girl, Thank you both for your advice as well! I did look at SW Palisade but that looked purple next to the slate. Stone Lion is an option but has a very low LRV so I am worried about heat retention and fading. We get extreme sunlight for a good part of the day so I thought a lighter color would be a practical choice. I will try uploading a photo of the house on the SW site to see how it would look with less contrast and a darker color. The immediate neighbors’ homes are Jersey Cream (a pale creamy yellow), a taupe color, possibly Mega Greige which I like but cannot repeat, and across the street the home was just painted Unusual Gray, sort of a gray-blue-green. Not sure about the corbels and shutters, although I did wonder about the shutters and whether they must match the front door. I would like a lighter color for the door, but not too light. I looked up the RGB codes for all the contenders but can’t make sense of them, and in seeing their positions on the color wheel the paint chips I like are more on the orange red side than the orange yellow (even though they don’t appear to be any of those colors!). Some of the colors look too green or yellow when I test them next to the slate, even though they look like taupe or cappuccino to me. I like SW Shitake but that is an approved trim color, not body color. At the moment, and subject to change (!) the contenders are SW Tawny Tan, Stone Lion, Beach House (seems a bit off though), and if the neighbor doesn’t already have it, Mega Greige. Trim color tbd, can be a cream or a darker color than the body. Hopefully a color for the front doors. So much to consider! Thank you all again for your thoughts.

I would try to find a much lighter version of the lower cabinets for the walls, or use the same color as the uppers. But as Patricia said, it is too soon to be worrying about this now. Wait until everything is in before painting. Sometimes you get an idea in your head, but once you're 80% done it doesn't work anymore. The paint chips shown are leaning purple, and I'm not sure that will be the best choice with the cabinets. You can always take a door into a paint store and have them match it. In the case of the lowers you would want to dial down the intensity substantially for walls, but at least then you would have the right undertones.
