Often good re-decorating requires taking some elements away, but you are asking for a feel of luxury, so you need to carefully add elements. If you have enough space and budget, then consider continuing the built-in to the other side of the fire place, and painting all of it to match. That will anchor the fireplace as the focal point of the room. Fabric can really add a sense of luxury so you could raise the curtain rods and add longer drapes on either side of the windows, with a filler spanning in between, not a swag, but something like you'll see as an example on the the first picture that Beverly posted. Original art says "luxe" and it looks like you have space for a great and sizable piece of art on the wall adjacent to the sideboard across from the dining room. Larger accessories absolutely, and some that are taller. They don't have to be expensive, but they should be things you really enjoy looking at and that you find delightful, or even amusing. Garage sales and flea market are gold mines. Then look carefully at the 2nd pic from Beverly and you'll get and idea on how to do a collection of smaller items to make a bolder statement (collections are 3 or more items.) The key to unifying is color. You've done a good job with your neutrals, add a couple of more luxurious throws in that palette and a few pillows. It looks like you enjoy blues so add that to the mix as well and a pop of black here and there and you should be well on your way.

Yeah, that's why I say the pictures don't do it justice jasdip. It's not a tiny house. Not a monster, but not tiny. You can stand in the basement. When I say full, that sounded like finished, but it isn't. Just big! Lots of storage. You see the tiny white car in the picture, on the lefthand side? That's right about where my house is. As you can see, even from far up, going down the white stairs to dock which is on the river alone is about thirty feet. Plus another 40 or so feet straight up to that grove of trees? No way the river is coming up to the house. After the great flood of 2010, everyone has a good idea of what does flood. It's not on the FEMA map. It does not have to have flood insurance. And they didn't disclose it flooded. I really really really truly doubt it can flood, since it obviously didn't flood then. Everything flooded in 2010! I lived across the street from the above linked building. Gosh what an ugly picture of the area. Must've been spring before anything was blooming. closer look at the stairs. I'd hate to walk those!

I have lived in 2 log homes. I understand your problem! Do you have any interior stonework also? Last time I was in this position, I tried to pull the base color of the rug from the lightest tone in the stone on my fireplace, so that I didn't end up with too much going on. Jewel tones do seem to work well, also. I like the last 3 you posted in the comments. It is really hard to pick unless you can see the rugs in person, too. I ended up ordering my last rug through a local furniture store, where I could see and feel samples. They ended up being very competitive on price. I tried ordering online first, and the colors always seemed a little "off" once I got them rolled out in my wood-everywhere house.

it's nice to get the furniture off the wall but you don't need a walkway behind the longest sofa. you DO need it behind the new location of the love seat around the back and the kitchen side to the back door. moving the 3 seater back up against the wall and shifting the love seat with it will open up more space on the kitchen side opening up the room even more. or just move the sofa to the wall and leave the loveseat so you still have a path to the doors across the seating area. the cabinet you have angled in the corner now can act as a sofa table behind the love seat just to give you and idea or it can go under the opening to your kitchen or along the wall under your mirror. love your mirror by the way, I wouldn't paint it. the white chair looks great in the room. first picture to show that with a sofa table you don't look at the back of a couch and leaves a walkway thru the seating. imagine the left sofa in the 2nd picture against a wall the loveseat forming and L with an end table between. the 3rd an alternate location for the chair just make sure you still have comfortable access to the door .
