Now for charming "C" daylilies!
Comments (62)I checked with the ATP database and it looks like it may be. Most of the pictures show Charlie has a green throat but there a few pics that don't have it. Daylilies can vary in color with the different soils, growing conditions that they are grown in. I use the ATP database because you can see pictures of the same daylily grown in different conditions. marg...See MoreC daylilies 2018
Comments (45)There sure are many lovely daylilies under letter C. Claudine's Charm and Clown Parade look fabulous in many gardens. I love the scape photo of Crazy Miss Daisy, and the clump shot of that one. Circus Performer and Cherry Ice Cream Smile always catch my eye. Here are some of my C's: Cardinal Desire is a nice red in the late season. Coastal Grand was one of my best budded cultivars but often had trouble opening. Cary Grant was wonderfully sunfast last season. Chilled Orange Sorbet is a very slow multiplier here. Comments (24)There are a few advantages to growing in containers. We too had a drought during the last half of the season. However the daylilies seemed unaffected ( unlike the gardener who was seen lugging the hose around to each pot at least once (sometimes twice) every day).......Nan: I could see Chitty Chitty Fang Fang in my collection of yellows. A pretty shade of yellow...Kate: So glad you feel up to posting a few. I like your Cloud of Witnessess by Emmerich and both you and Mantis have one I've considered off and on over the years in Creature of The Night. I have heard elsewhere though that the scapes aren't the strongest out there........Debra: Clarification looks so very tempting. Does the base color fade out or is it the pale lavender that shows in your pictures....Brad: We are all agreed I think on your Carmen Renee, but I also like Chance Encounter. I bet Stamile's do well for you in your zone. Christopher Russell looks good too......David: I'm not much on whites or the daylily equivalent of white, but I've always liked your Caribbean Whipped Cream. It's on my "if I had room" list......Mantis: for me the 2 standouts today are Crystal Castles and In Living Color. Considering your comment about Hanson generalizing about dor vs sev now days, I can give more consideration to nice ones like this....Maryl...See MoreE daylilies 2025
Comments (14)Edward Abbey is a unique color. Its bud count is modest, but I wouldn't be without it. Elegant Candy is the only of the Candy series that I have kept, as it blooms so freely. Exotic Starfish is striking, but has had low scape density here. El Desperado is hard to give up. Evermore Greatful can look very good. Richard was always proud of its pure cherry red color. There is a Grateful Red too, but I think Nan was referring to Evermore, since it is an "e." It could stand a few inches in height, but I am not bothered by its upper twenties. Edge of Irrelevance Echo Beach --I like this plant. Not 33 inches as registered. Probably mid-twenties. So much sun last year; one had to take sun shots. Early Snow --very nice display last year. Every Knee Shall Bow. Opens well. Occasional slight splotches. Vigorous. Creating a buzz in the hybridizing world, Electric Ladyland -pic from 2023. EL was not as good in heat and drought. Elizabeth Peacock Existential Avatar --outstanding performance in 2024. Even Nan would be pleased with the height. El Shaddai...See MoreRelated Professionals
