We found out, almost by accident, the same thing about WM delivering in the country, Oakley. We too live in a rural area, almost 8 miles from the closest WM. I seldom shop there but occasionally will do a pickup order of laundry detergent, paper goods, etc. One of the items was not available for pickup and said ’delivery only’, which I thought meant it would be shipped. The next evening, a driver delivered it to our front door. Boy was I shocked. A few days later, DH helped a driver from their delivery service find the correct house they were looking for.

WM? We have WoodMans but they are pretty cut-rate and certainly don’t offer delivery. But, what a treat to not have to go out! I know my parents appreciated being able to call their longtime grocery store and give the order over the phone. Victoria would fill their cart, and sometimes add a new product for them to try. And Luis would deliver and eventually even bring the groceries in, and eventually even put some of them away.

I told DS to have his orders arrive in daylight hours because it’s hard for drivers to see his driveway which has the address on his mailbox. Our porch light was off but at least the security light was on.

What I liked is the tip was included in the amount because I had no idea what to give.

First world problem to the max!

Bpath, yes it was Wally World. The one we use is a small super center & they have great produce & everything we need, except catfish. 😜

Our town used to have a mom & pop store but it went out of business.

I use Wal-mart delivery often for paper goods and things like laundry detergent for my mother who lives in a different state than I do. Her housekeeper will call me with a list and I pay a premium to have the items delivered within 3 hours so the housekeeper can deal with the delivery. The only problem is that they don't have certain things that Mother uses regularly so I have to resort to Amazon for those.

Amazon is also a blessing. That's where I buy all the cat food. DH insists on getting dog food at the store even though the dry weighs a thousand pounds. lol We needed wet dog food and I was shocked at the price which is $2 cheaper than AZ. It's doubled in price since I did the shopping.

I don't mean to sound like a snob but the clientele is the opposite from city supercenters. It's the only large grocery store (mini supercenter) in our county which is mostly rural, so it's fun to see friends while shopping. People are just friendly.

Wow, grocery delivery, I cant even imagine. I live in the boondocks of Maine so that wont be happening alas.

How fast the world changes. When I met my MIL she talked about years of ordering from catalogs... Small town she had little choice. I was astounded at her dependance on mail order. Now it's common place and as you've all noted even daily essentials can be delivered to your door. It has truly brought the world to door steps all over rural America.

I forgot that Kroger comes from the city to deliver where I live, & I remember beginning an order with them then stopped because it was taking forever to look at everything. lol And I think I figured out why WM is now delivering in the country, because of Kroger.

Arcy, when we first moved here I was ordering my clothes and house stuff from either Spiegel or Sears.

Local, how many miles are you from the nearest grocery store? Having groceries delivered here is a game changer.

We are lucky, we have many options for grocery delivery here. I can order from Whole Foods, Wegmans (via Instacart, which I don’t do any more but did often in 2020 — the nearest Wegmans is about 1/2 hr from me so delivery was uber convenient), as well as a local farm market and butcher. Even our local wine store delivers. I could easily be a hermit! This week has been super cold and super windy so I did have groceries delivered from the local farm market, such a luxury not to leave the house.

Generally I would prefer to pick out certain things on my own, like produce, but in pinch, delivery is great! Sometimes I just stock up on certain bulky or heavy things from amazon like TP and 12-packs of seltzer.

I also stock up on paper products and other items from Amazon, even our favorite sweetener, which is cheaper there. I’m in the county, away from the city stuff, but we do have 2 groceries fairly convenient. I love ordering my groceries although I am fine with picking them up. I make a trip to the produce/meat market as needed. In fact, picking up a grocery order today before the ”big” storm hits tomorrow. 😊

Oakley, it’s 19 miles to the grocery store. There is another market that’s 10 miles but their produce is very limited, but it‘s good in a pinch.

We eat mostly plant based and I have to be very organized about managing my produce to last between shops. I buy an array of vegetables that get used based on their ”keepability” score. Asparagus gets eaten right away, cauliflower and cabbage can keep longer. It’s all easier in summer when the garden is producing.

Right now l’m nesting in bed with the north window a foot away, watching snow fall gently in front of a row of cedar trees. Good book, & playing June’s Journey. I still can’t believe none of you play since we’re allegedly decorators.

I never order groceries online as I don't mind going out for them and everything is nearby. But I needed a new Fitbit for work and so I ordered one from the Fitbit store on the big A and received it within a few hours. It's hard to compete with such timely service.

I never thought we would see any delivery service here in our rural area either, but Wal-Mart surprised us. Never say never, unless there just isn’t any local store close enough to eventually offer it. Of course we do most of our shopping in person at Publix or the occasional Fresh Market, Whole Foods, or TJ run. It is nice to know if we ’need it’ that it’s an option. And of course Big A delivers orders pretty regularly at our house. I can’t seem to find my fave glass cleaner lately so ordered 2 bottles yesterday. I make my own too tho so can get by.

We loved WebVan back in the day, but they were ahead of their time. I used Instacart and Amazon Fresh during the Pandemic but rarely do now.

I have Publix, Kroger, Trader Joe’s, and Fresh Market within a mile of my house, and Whole Foods is about two miles away. Groceries are pretty easy to come by!!

I didn't mind grocery shopping until I hit 60. I'm a fast walker, the lady you see practically running down the middle aisle to get to the opposite side of the store. But one day my cart was halfway full and I suddenly got sick to my stomach and felt faint. I quickly checked out and didn't get the rest. That's when DH said he'd like to do the grocery shopping.

The older we get our stamina doesn't last as long.

We do buy all paper goods from WM because I got sick of all the big boxes from AZ, even though we have our own 2 family size dumpster.

I forgot to buy birdseed and ice melt, so I'm headed to AZ because I bet WM is out.

This is the first time I've heard of WM delivery but thanks for this information
