I can imagine how frustrated you must be by now. Hang in there. We would hate to loose you............I grew Brocaded Gown a million years ago and still remember it. Loved the texture on the petals............ Your shot of Buzz Saw is grand. I've passed this one on to a couple of non daylily friends and they think its just nifty. It does look nice in a mixed border. Mine almost bit the dust last winter, but managed to pull out of it. I'd hate to loose it. Here it is in 104 degree temperature in July. Still good substance and a nice edge to it:

Sherry - Blood, Sweat and Tears is my favorite of yours. Great clump shot of Bela Lugosi! I left my Bela behind, but it had some fantastic years before I got so many grubs.

Maryl - Better Than Ice Cream always attracts my attention. It's a shame Blazing Double Sunset couldn't take your climate. It's a looker for sure.

Before it such an apt name. It's nice to have one blooming before Stella. I also like Blazing Double Sunset and Blood of the Martyrs. Bill Norris is such a great performer in our garden.

Ballin' the Jack performed well last season even though it was in the 'crush zone' where the trees all fell. It is a late bloomer.

Beastmaster has a toothy flower, but the scape is rather short. It has been a great increaser too.

Begin with a Bang is extra early, but not as early as Sherry's Before. I don't love the color and its earliness is the reason it stays in the garden.

I do like the color on Big Red Macaw.

Black Rock Spire is a Salter daylily that survives here. I grow it because of the colored edge on the sepals.

Bob Marley is one of our best growers.

I often sing the praises of Bodacious Bite. It's a great daylily in my opinion.

Bucklebury Ferry is one of our intros. We didn't register it as a rebloomer, but it reblooms for us now.

I don't love the color of Bucky Beaver (but the teeth are nice), but it's a great grower in our garden. It's a late bloomer too and quite fertile. We got 119 seeds from it as a pod parent.

I was afraid Buddy's Spike wouldn't make it here (it's southern bred), but so far so good.

Blazing Saddles is a Hansen that I got after Debra's recommendation. It is quite consistent here. Maryl, you grew Bodacious Bite at one time. I wonder what your experience (in a difficult climate) was.

Bob Marley is in the estate garden and was just blasted by heat last year (a sunny location against a light-colored wall). It is a good one here.

I didn't realize that Boy Crazy was not so good for you, Sherry, as you pictured it many times. It is not a dormant, I see.

Blue Healer is a large Korth flower. Last summer was not a good year for evaluating things that have been here a short time.

Boldly Going is a striking Hanson flower that has been here a short time. Good height.

Byzantine Dagger is another Hanson with tet Trahlyta lineage.

Boundless Beauty had perfect blooms on this day.

Bryan's Song is one that I liked from the first time I saw it at Ashwood. I postponed getting it, but then the pandemic hit. Only a year or so ago did I manage to find it. It has good height. I see that partial-opening bud. Early in the season, that would be dreadful here, since earwigs are bad. But BS blooms later.

Bridge of Sighs has an elaborate eyezone and nice edge. It has not grown faster than it did at Crintonic. Dan's plants are no longer tested there.

The deep color of Black Falcon Ritual is not well captured in this year's picture. Even with the heat and dryness, it bloomed profusely.

Becky Adams had a beautiful threesome. In general, Selman's plants are not especially well budded here.

Moldovan's Blessed Art Thou has hues that had to be captured here in lower exposure. This pic is from 2023.

Nan - My favorites of yours are Bob Marley and Buckleberry Ferry. I've registered a few that didn't start reblooming until years five or six.

Mantis - I'm glad Blazing Saddles is consistent for you. I'm surprised Dan's plants are no longer tested at Crintonic. Boldly Going is quite striking. I had Blue Healer, but it did not survive for me in Nashville.

I had to look up "ballin' the jack" in the Urban Dictionary.

ballin' the jack

An obsolete expression meaning "to make haste", such as grossly exceeding the posted speed limit when operating your vehicle. Usage appears to be limited to the southeastern Oklahoma geographical area among men born pre-WWII. The origins of the phrase are unclear but several possibilities exist. Railroad crews used a jack with a ball on the end when laying and bending the rails of a new track so it could have originated from some tech specific aspect of the track laying procedure, or, more likely, it is derived from a dance of the same name popular during the late 1910's. The dance was derived from an obscure song popular in dance clubs of the era, "Ballin' the Jack". Contrary to the first impression one may experience upon first hearing the phrase it apparently has no connection with a sexual act performed on a male donkey(a jack).Boy howdy , I come off that hill I was a ballin' the jack , and danged if there wudn't a state trooper a settin' at the bottom of it.

Dan Bachman, the hybridizer of Ballin' the Jack, named many of his intros after songs. I suspect this is the origin of the name Ballin' the Jack. He also named daylilies My 19th Nervous Breakdown, Begin the Beguine, Smokestack Lightning among others.

I always like seeing Bela Lugsi. FYI we've watched a number of old [30's & 40's] comedy-mysteries lately and several of them had Lugosi in them. Blood Sweat & Tears is also pretty.

Brad - Your Belle Isle Sentry is always so impressive. As for Blood of the Martyrs, Emmerich registered it as a dark red, but it often looked purple in my garden - especially in the shade. Here's another photo taken in the sun where it looked red.

Mantis: What a memory you have. I grew Bodacious Bite in 2017. It was a bonus plant. It is not even remotely the colors I like so it didn't make it to 2018. I think Nan grew it or maybe still does.....Better Than Ice Cream came from Windyhill. I haven't ordered from them since then. Thomas Tew is the hybridizer, but he long ago got out of the daylily biz......I liked your Boldly Going. Had to look it up. Nice looking..........Maryl

Wow Maryl, you did indeed get snow! And yes, Sherry, this is unusual for us to have this much. It was a soft fluffy snow with just enough icy mixture to make sledding and snowman building possible for neighborhood kids. Few actual sleds here but lots of waxed cardboards and beach boogie boards!! I posted a photo a few years ago of a ”Southern” snowman that was about 2 feet tall and brown from the leaves picked up with the snow!

I really enjoyed Bright and Morning Star. It performed great for first year plant.

And I may have my Christmas card for next year!

Ice always makes for picturesque tree pics. I've seen it before firsthand; happy now just to view it in pics. I've never seen But Wait There's More with those rose hues. Clearly, Boy Crazy grows well for Kate.

Mantis, you know most of my pics are early morning-But Wait There’s More quickly fades to a lighter coral color when heat hits it. I don’t think I have ever seen it double.

Fortunately no ice-these were just fluffy snow limbs that quickly divested the snow.. I am a survivor of our great 1994 ice storm when we were without power for 19 days.

Blood of the Martyrs is a cranberry tone here.

Burning So Brightly was intense, but looking a bit short between other cultivars. A Hensley.

Mantis: You know I always pay attention to Hensley daylilies in the orange/red shade. Just days ago I was pondering over a picture I saw of Burning So Brightly. Great timing on your posting. I'm not adding any this year other then what I have on back order, so will put this in my mental Rolodex (do people even know what that is now days I wonder). I do favor a fuller look, but I do like the color........My Blushing Escapade was gifted to a friend in a cooler region. It grew fine when it was here, but the pale pink color did not appeal to me..............Maryl

Belief in Vein bloomed earlier in the summer. We had no idea what was to come. Everything was early, and just around the corner was overwhelming heat and persistent drought.

Emmerich's Battle of the Ages had every bloom perfect, but too early to evaluate plant habit.

I always find performance of plants interesting-geographically where WE live and where the plants live in our gardens (as we move them around to find a spot they like). Blushing Escapade has been fabulous in my garden in the first and only place I planted it. It reblooms several times and is often the last daylily blooming. Here is a photo. And yes, this color is what I see although in summer heat it will definitely fade.

And here it is in late August in rebloom and 100 degree heat. Notice the heat and drought stressed neighbors!

Wow Kate, that is a pretty one! And I agree, it is funny how some daylilies have certain places in the yard in which they do better. In some cases it makes sense: less sun, more sun, am or pm sun, etc. But sometimes it doesn't make sense.

And there are those plants that don't care where they are planted!! They will be either good or bad everywhere.
