Advantium monogram model ZSA2201
Comments (0)We just replaced our Advantium after spending over $600. to repair our old unit. first repair lasted one week. second repair lasted another week. Third repair lasted less than 1 year. before third repair I even asked them for cost of new unit and if they would give us a discount on new. no, was their answer, so stupidly forked over more money for another repair! with current problem we decided not to tempt fate and put any further cashola into this black hole. After installing new unit we are glad we decided on a new one. Prefer the look of the new Monogram version also. Both units we have had are the 220V ones. not sure why anyone would want a Speedcook oven that is slow anyway? ease of install I guess? these are pricey ovens so if you decide to lay out the money might as well run the extra electric line as well. Original oven was purchased through local appliance dealer. They were also the ones who tried repairing 3 times and $600 + later! repair also resulted in oven making far more noise than when new and they would not correct problem that they caused! We did not think they should get any further $ from us so we bought new unit from an online retailer. Just one week without an Advantium and we missed it already! Good to have a new unit we use it so much. New unit has added functions such as convection and much easier menu system as well as a nice glass touch pad. Interior space seems to be bigger than our old one. the Convection does seem to improve outcome of some dishes such as breakfast biscuits which never browned in old unit and now they have golden brown appearance. only had this for a few days so not much experience yet. New unit is also less noisy than old one and fan blows upwards instead of in my face. We have ours mounted above countertop not above range. The exhaust fan is way too ineffective to use as a range hood. During a kitchen remodel we moved it to present location and had a real hood installed over range. also discovered when I installed this new unit our Kitchen remodelers did not properly install old unit. Missing/incorrect wall anchor screws of course and no filler pieces between cabinet and top of oven. Did I really expect them to do it right? These new units are now made in Korea. Have to say I am disappointed in construction quality. Shipping box appeared to be a factory new sealed box, so it was not a refurbished unit. Oven had 2 screws missing from back panel. Most the rest of the screws were stripped and would not get tight. I replaced them with larger gauge screws. Since we use recirculate fan I needed to rotate fan cage as per instructions. Remove fan and found a broken piece of plastic under fan along with a spring washer. I could not see where these pieces came from no matter how long I searched? Also back panel of oven was dented where it is designed to hang on wall bracket. box did not show any damage so I suspect either occurred at factory or packaging is just not strong enough. U Other issue was door seems to hang down. Trim on door does not align with trim on frame of oven. I bent the hinges slightly and it helped but not perfect. GE needs to improve factory quality control. for the price of these machines. I do expect higher grade of build than what we received. Even with these misgivings we still love our Advantium and would not have a kitchen without one! would purchase extended warranty if available from GE after our experiences with first Advantium. I'll post some pictures on another posting....See MoreGe Monogram Advantium 120 or 240
Comments (25)With all of the above comments I feel the l20 would be the way to go and put the extra money into the Monogram oven. But I will go to the appliance store, better yet, I will phone them and see when the new 240 will be in their store. Terilyn said next time she will go with double ovens and a regular microwave. Sometimes I feel like that is the most logical thing to do. We are trying to save space and money and there are only two of us now so really the double ovens are only needed on the holiday/birthday dinners. Maybe l0 times a year. I really thought the advantium/regular oven would be the way to go. The only place I can put a microwave is in the island. And those are $l000 for the microwave drawer. Money, money, money. If you thought these appliances would last for l0 to l5 years with no problems then you could spend the money with a smile on your face, but, we all know, and especially after reading these threads, that is unrealistic. Do any of you buy the extra warranty that the appliance stores area all pushing. Ours is $200 per appliance for 5 years. Isn't that when the appliance should be in the perfect stage. What about a warranty from year 5 to l0. That I would buy the warranty, but for the first five years I don't get it....have any of you bought it???...See MoreGE Advantium over monogram
Comments (19)Malhgold, the cabinets are from Ultracraft in red birch with a Golden stain. I do not have the Trivection. The oven is the Monogram ZET1SLSS, which the OP was asking about way back when (but it wasn't installed yet when the question was first posted). I'm really happy with the oven. Seems to pre-heat quickly, love those full extension racks, and love the feel of the knobs (they click softly as you turn the dial). The display and the timer function is simple and intuitive. Baking seems very even, Fan reasonably quiet. Interior light illuminates the whole oven well, and stays on the whole time oven is running (you can't control the interior light). At first that bugged me, but now I realize that I am less likely to forget to turn the oven off when I am done. The Advantium has a steep learning curve, and at first I was not thrilled, but now that I am getting the hang of it, I am liking it much better. I re-heated garlic bread tonight with cheese on top, and it came out perfect! Fresh, crispy, restaurant quality. Better than my old toaster oven could do. It took 7-8 minutes, though. Not as speedy as I thought a speed oven would be. I suspect the 240 advantium is quicker. I guess I am just impatient. No pre-heat time required, so it was better than the big oven or broiler would have been for this task. I did frozen chicken tenders for the kids last night, and they were relatively quick (8 min I think), and came out great. The microwave only function is very easy to use - my favorite is the express start button. Hit it once and it starts, with 30 sec on the timer. Hit it again and it adds 30 sec increments. Or turn the dial after it starts to add or subtract time in any amount you want. Very easy! I also like the sensor re-heat feature. It tells you when your food is piping hot, but not burned - no guessing. As a plain microwave it is not as powerful as my old microwave - but not too bad. I really need to play with it some more. I find it a PITA to change the trays when going from speed cook to microwave, though. And the fan on the Advantium is fairly noisy. Minor annoyances. I picked the Monogram over the Profile just for looks. The handles matched my hardware better, and I liked the square face, not curved. Snowy, I was told the same thing, that the only diff betw the Monogram and Profile versions of the 120 advantium was the look (and the price!) Same appliance, different face. Hope this info is helpful....See MoreDo you/Did you have a GE Monogram 958?
Comments (0)I am new here as I have just started to plan a kitchen renovation and I have found this forum to be so helpful. BUT...my double oven is now kaput and I need to replace it before renovation can begin (asap!). I am therefore tied to the current size of 27 inches. I have looked at electrolux EW65GS and the GE Monogram ZEK958. I have heard horrors of GE fan noise...does anyone have THIS model and is it noisy? thanks so much in advance!...See MoreRelated Professionals
