Chinese Antique Chairs need updating (for dining room)
Comments (8)@kootenaycapable Chair pads are a great idea! For now, the red upholstered bench is just going to live in the window alcove in the living room (no design yet, working with a designer from Havenly right now to decorate the LR) since we don't have other ideas, but I'm open to add'l suggestions! larger version @Pam P. @housegal200 I didn't think of a glass table at all! Do you have suggestions for what kind of legs? @latifolia good call on testing if they're comfortable for long hours. I'd say my biggest concern regarding comfort is that there is literally 90º angle from chair seat to back, so forces you to sit very upright. I guess people will leave the dinner party with better posture ;-) Here's the dining space currently (dimensions are 15'6" x 13'8"): larger pic of dining room here kitchen pic provided for context *going to remove the dining set that's currently in here and will probably build out a breakfast bar Thank you to all who responded!...See MoreDining room furniture needs update - paint? Comments (2)No painting tips from me…I’m horrible at DIYs. I would like to comment on the china cabinet. It is crowding the table/chairs. Can you repurpose it for another room? Comments (17)leave the door white. I like the drum shade as well looks nice transitional. depending on your budget a bell jar style would look really nice in your entry. https://www.houzz.com/products/minka-lavery-atrio-3-light-pendant-polished-nickel-prvw-vr~105338881?lid=87748774 https://www.houzz.com/product/86835523-jefferson-4-light-pendant-in-polished-nickel-traditional-pendant-lighting https://s3.img-b.com/image/private/c_lpad,f_auto,h_450,t_base,w_450/v3/product/livexlighting/livex-lighting-50402-91-66.jpg...See MoreNeed your advice on dining room update!
Comments (1)Repainting is a great way to save money. If you're up for the challenge, that's wonderful! Here are some thoughts to consider: If you're thinking about putting a rug in the dining room, I would decide on that first. It could drive other color choices. I think white for the table would be a good contrast with the floor. Personally, I would paint the upper walls next after the table. The chair rail and moldings below would feel more updated if the whole wall is white. If you were to redo the whole wall (along with moldings and chair rail) in a different color --gray, taupe, or tobacco maybe?-- that could be another step forward. Since your table will be white, a different wall color would set it off as well. After those changes, and possibly drapes with a pattern (buffalo plaid?), then I would reevaluate whether you want to paint the other dining room pieces. Hopefully that helps! (I've got more ideas over on YouTube, if you want to check them out.)...See MoreRelated Professionals
