Pendant Lights Over Large Kitchen Island
Comments (2)It is a large kitchen and completely open to the family room. The center island is 128" (we refer to it as the cooking island). There are also perimeter cabinets and a 48" gas range. The hardwood floors are being installed now and the cabinets will be installed in about a week, so I don't have a good picture yet to capture the size of the space. We have 10 foot ceilings and an entire wall of windows, so everything is very open. I have attached a picture from a few weeks ago. It is from the perspective of the kitchen looking into the family room. The "island" you see is just the support for what will be the raised portion of the island (the bar top). I hope this helps....See Moreneed advise on hanging 7 (two sizes) pendant lights over kit island
Comments (5)Generally, a pendant light over a peninsula or island should be spaced about 24 inches apart. You don't mention the length of the counter, but 7 lights seems a little (lot?) excessive. Maybe 5 lights at the most?...See MoreKitchen table color and new pendant lights over island
Comments (2)Glass inserts in cabinets with lights inside cabinets can brighten the room. A patterned drum shade in fun latter/color would add some sparkle. Faceted square crystal hanging over island would reflect light. Pretty cushions on dining chairs will bring in brightness! But I really think the light fixtures work in you kitchen. Maybe lively wallpaper in the table area and new cushions in chairs would give you the big pop you are looking for?...See MoreTwo 11” or 15” pendants over 4x6 island?
Comments (3)I would stick to the eleven inch. 72 - 22 = 52 inches 52 inches minus 24 ( 12 open inches at each end of island ) will result in 28" between the two 11" pendants. At 15" ?? 72 - 30 for pendants = 42 " 42 - 20" for a 10" open area at ends leaves 22 inches between them. The first is a nicer proportion, especially if a sink is on the island and considering also the solid shade on the light., versus open or glass. There's no law in the numbers, you can play with the (open) inches of course. But a solid shade will "read" bigger every single time, and of course you can't see through it, either : )...See MoreRelated Professionals
