Small kitchen reno : Narrow fridges
Comments (10)wedgered--I have a very small kitchen (about 7 x 9) so I was also on the hunt for narrow appliances. I very nearly went with one of the Liebherr refrigerators (which really do look great) but ended up with a different solution--going with all undercounter refrigeration to give me more counterspace. Since I was truly space constrained I didn't have room for 2 24" units, so ended up going with the U-Line 24" combo refrigerator/freezer drawer unit, plus a second 15" wide undercounter refrigerator. The setup is working great for me, and I love the extra counterspace. You would probably need a bit more space than I have, but you might want to take a look at your layout and see if undercounter options could work for you. Here is a picture of my "refrigerator" wall: For my other appliances I went with an 18" Miele dishwasher which I love--plenty of space thanks to the cutlery drawer up top, so no basket taking up space. For my range I went with a 70 cm (about 27 inch wide)Lacanche Cormatin--just a bit bigger than the various 24" options like the Aga Companion (and oh so pretty!). If you really only have room for a 24" range, you might also want to look at the Blue Star--folks seem to love those over on the Appliance forum. I think American Range also has a 24" option which looks nice. Here is a picture of my range (in case I can tempt you away from the Aga Companion!) Enjoy your hunt for skinny appliances!...See MoreSmall fridge/no freezer in kitchen
Comments (2)I would definitely want some freezer space in the kitchen. I'm looking at the 24 inch LG refrigerator for our small kitchen remodel. I put it in a small kitchen in a previous house and was super happy with it. It's shorter than any other counter depth small refrigerator I have found which means some more cabinet storage above. It's also cheaper. It never came in true stainless though and it looks to me like the grey faux stainless has been discontinued? I'm not seeing it available on line anyway. So it is limited to white....See MoreI hate my fridge placement (small kitchen)
Comments (5)I'd probably think about an L plan and skip peninsula or island or anything in the middle of the floor...the long wall of the L can extend to fairly close to the patio door and in the eating area at that end I'd look for just the right drop leaf pedestal table so the traffic to the patio door can be accomodated. The fridge can go between the two windows once the bulkhead and peninsula is out. Invest in the liebherr fridge and furniture grade cabinets because it will be very open. The fridge could go where the stove and vent is, and place stove with hood on wall area between two windows-I don't think that change would be costly because it's an outside wall and easy to vent straight. A few more details would help-what is the sq footage of the home overall, what is your budget, how many feet across the room. and how long is the outside wall with windows?...See MoreSwapping stove and fridge in small kitchen in NYC
Comments (5)Thank you for responding. We haven't consulted with the management yet since the official closing has not yet happened. The board isn't quite organized in this bldg and there's a new management in place. I am assuming they would just follow the NYC codes. I looked up the NYC bldg code and as much as I could understand the tech jargon, they direct you to follow the guidelines of manufacturers. Interestingly, for 9500 btu (available in 30 inch), it is only 2 inches gap that is required....See MoreRelated Professionals
