It was fun and funny in parts. But I thought it was overhyped as to the message. I thought it was a missed opportunity in that regard.

I saw it somewhere on streaming earlier last year, but also noticed it on Netflix now. I'd definitely watch it again as it was pure fun! Kate McKinnon as Weird Barbie is perfection!

I saw it last year but was not particularly impressed. The messages were delivered with an unsubtle heavy hand imo. But I don't think it was aimed at me.

We saw it recently on Nflx. It was more clever than I ’d imagined, wierd Barbie was great, but I still got tired and fell asleep before it was over. I did like how the propotions were as in reality versus realistic (as with size of Barbie to her car and how she exits via 2nd story).

I think DollsOnTheBrain is funny and a great use of Barbie dolls. The artist is on Facebook, Instagram and other social media sites.

No we don't tend to do theatres much. Thanks for letting us know it's not streaming. I do not find many of these services easy to find what's there.

Saw Barbie in a theater. I would watch again — seeing the Venice boardwalk and Santa Monica locations is a hoot. Liked the sly dig at Century City too.

I boycotted it at the theater because it made me really mad that the two big movies being hyped simultaneously were Oppenheimer about the "accomplishments" of men and Barbie - obviously geared to women and girls. I didn't really care what the message of the movie was at that point because I think most people didn't even know at that point. It was just such a blatant contrast in male/female roles in our culture...

Then I heard more about it and became curious but was still mad that Barbie was being used as the messenger. Then I saw a fair amount of Ryan Gosling on talk shows and kind of fell in love with him and how he talked about the movie and his role.

When I saw it was on Netflix, I was kind of excited to watch it and see for myself (but mostly to get a Ryan Gosling fix) but I wasn't all that thrilled with it. To be fair, I had it on while I was prepping food for a party and so didn't give it 100% of my attention, so I think I'll watch it again when I can actually watch the whole thing.

I would definitely watch it again but would have to gag DH and tie him to a chair for him to watch it with me.

Margot Robbie, in the role of Producer, pitched the movie to Warner Brothers who accepted it. She chose the screenwriter, Greta Gerwig. Gerwig accepted on the condition that her male partner could also be involved and thus he was as co-writer. Gerwig was the director. Women were well represented in the production company.

Indeed, clearly a male-devised movie to get "really mad" about, a result of being based on narrow archaic stereotypes held by the males behind the movie.

We (DH and ODS) streamed it in late 2023. I enjoyed it, but I doubt I’ll watch it again.

We saw it on video when came to the library. I’m going to watch it again on Ntflx to look for the ”easter eggs” or little things, much like watching Toy Story.

Good gracious a silly movie causes this sort of dust up. uggg. I ASSUMED my girls would in insulted by the sexism of this genre. They were not. They thought it campy and always love a musical. I just started watching. Doubt I'll think it's worth the two hours but here goes...... I never played much with Barbie as a doll...I liked to make her home so my sisters could play in it. Given all the fashionistas that post here I would expect it to be popular for the nostalgia. Seems logical.

I'm female, and think of myself as intelligent, with self confidence and a sense of humor. I saw Barbie in the theater, and did not enjoy it. "Missed opportunity" is how I would describe it, too.

Here's my Barbara--named after my mother. After ENDURING that mess of a movie I think I know why she liked it. She drank the WOKE kool-aid and believes all that sexist/racist/patriarchy victim tripe. But she does know how to have fun!!

I watched the movie while on a long plane flight. I played with Barbie dolls alot in the 60’s but didn’t care for the movie. I just don’t get the hype.

Barbara is a lovely young woman. I so hope she always feels loved and respected by those whose opinions matter most to her.

It was kinda fun, but not terribly meaningful - I wouldn't be interested in seeing it again, but I think it's worth seeing.

I really like Ryan Gosling. The Notebook is one of my all-time favourite movies. Although he and Rachel McAdams didn't get along *at all* apparently.

His other movie, the musical La La Land, didn't get good reviews at all. I may watch this one out of curiousity.

I had seen people mention how they were in tears, and kept wondering what part made them cry - until the end. Tears were rolling down my face as well during the montage of girls, mothers, etc. - welling up now just thinking about it, and my own mom, my aunts, grandmothers, me, my sisters, friends, and on and on...

Guess I should have watched through to the end.
