House size: How big would be TOO big for you?
Comments (90)I thought our 2300 sq ft. house was just perfect for the 3 of us... - then we decided I traveled too much for work and opened up my own business - in the house - then things grew and I added an employee - in the house - Then hubby took early out from the University and expanded his tax & consulting practice - in the house - then his practice grew and he added a part ime employee - in the house - then things really got successful and some parts of the year he can have as many as 3 employees - in the house!!! Net effect is that our 4 bedroom house some days feels like a 1 bedroom office - we no longer have a home. We are building on 20 acres in the country - house with a good sized office wing. I've redesigned about a dozen times and can't seem to get it down below 5000 sq ft. So, for us (and the assorted clients, employees and visiting relatives) I guess the perfect size is 5000 sq ft....See Moregunite pool just poured too deep
Comments (77)I know of one engineering firm in California that will perform forensic tests on the shell to determine the problem. So many things can create cracks in a shell such as unstable/unsuitable soil conditions, improper placement of rebar, type of rebar, amount of rebar, improper coverage and or cement ratio and content of the shotcrete. Groundwater can affect a shell as well. There may be rebound in the mix which most certainly causes cracks. Rebound is the material that "bounces" off the surface when the shotcrete is applied. It does not provide a mechanical and chemical bond needed and must be shoveled out of the shell during the shoot. That is customary during this process. Shotcrete crews may offer a warranty or be responsible in some aspect if their mix was poor and not to standards. But, they will generally be under the impression the PB will have the pool prepped properly to meet the approved plan. Your situation is horrible and I feel terrible for you. If I looked at your pool in it's present condition, I would probably recommend removal and start all over again. I think problems will continue and although the Torque Lock is a great product, a 100' crack is a lot to mend. Others may differ on opinion. You can make the repair and see if it holds, but understand it may not go away....See MoreIs my living room rug too big or is my couch too wide?
Comments (9)Yep next project is to address that to the best I can. Partner wants a big tv but they are an eyesore in general but I need to compromise on it :). I plan to get rid of the stand and paint the builts in white so will hopefully minimize the overall look. Would love to redo the whole wall, change out to the fireplace for a lower and wider electic fireplace and mount the tv directly above but that sounds expensive. Maybe in the future!...See MoreUnfortunately it’s just as I feared…..
Comments (18)Thanks sherry! I have June, First Frost (trying in the sun), Punky, Gabriel’s Wing, Teaspoon, Wyle Green Cream, Heart and Soul and Winter Snow. All of these are new. I was surprised to see First Frost on the sun tolerant list. I have one in shade and thought I would try on in sun. It has burned the most. I may have to rethink where it is. I also have Squash Casserole in a different bed with less sun and it is doing fine. Maybe that’s where I should move FF to……I’ll wait and see. debra...See MoreRelated Professionals
