Help me fill this gaping hole in my countertop!
Comments (17)momof2doxies: thanks for the photo! That helps me visualize. I think if I do BB there I'd have to do something contrasting -- either striped like yours or end grain. shanghaimom and ci_lantro: reinstalling the Jenn-Aire as a functioning cooktop is not possible. We have a stone house and the exhaust vent to the outside is already covered up and re-stoned, so I can't hook it back up. (We had a lot of stone work/patching done before we moved in and had the vent patched at the same time, before we really discussed options for dealing with the big hole!) This is a strange and quirky house, so the patched counters will just have to be one of its charms!...See MoreHelp me decorate my Kitchen countertops. Pictures
Comments (35)I have viewed that blog before - can't remember where I linked to it from. Maybe Nesting Place. I LOVE the color of her cabinets, but that is just too much *stuff* on the countertops (and elsewhere in the room). IMO. Clutter. One thing she does and I have one too - but forgot to mention - is a lamp. I love a lamp somewhere on the kitchen counters. Oakley - re: utensils in drawers - I have different drawer organizers and dividers. It works GREAT. The knife block thingy (piece of wood with grooves for knives) is another great item. It lays in the drawer. I have a big crock with utensils on one counter, but most are antique pieces that I've collected and not so many pieces I actually use. The items are easy to get to, but they also get dusty. tina...See MorePOLL: countertop go a few inches up the wall or not?
Comments (20)The short backsplash is dated. But people should get what they like regardless of whether others think it's dated or not. To me, the overriding factor is that a short backsplash means a tiny ledge all around that collects dust - yet one more thing to wipe. Nope! Also, I agree with Sprtphntc about doing a non-grouted backsplash behind your cooktop, given your grooved tile. I had commented as such on your other thread ("help a girl out with countertop choice please"), so let us know what you think of that idea....See MoreHelp with kitchen counter-tops is really needed...
Comments (42)for the handles, may I suggest something to pick up on the hues in the flooring? A little more copper toned. you have light cabs, light floors. I think throwing in a dark ORB w/o actual copper highlights would be too much of a contrast. IMO. cypress park Sandra, I like the porcelain one better than the other one. Does the backsplash have to be done immediately? If the tones in the porcelain tile you picked clash w/the ivory tones in the counter, it could be a problem. However, I did find some copper toned ones that should be avail. these are porcelain/SS, and treated so as not to stain or tarnish. I LOVE these for your kitchen. timeless and gorgeous. They are probably not super cheap, but it would be worth it for me. http://www.miusartmosaics.com/arabesque-lantern-beacon-copper-tile-in these would also work. the site is here: maybe they have them in stock.http://www.westsidetile.com/arabesque-tiles/ i like this one too. notice the copper faucet. beautiful w/the glass mosaic. if you got the cream countertop, this would look amazing w/your floors. this last one is a copper colored slate/quartzite....See MoreRelated Professionals
