Comments (3)Thank You. I stopped by at our local home-depot to checkout the depth of vertical shades and the rep there mentioned that sliding doors can only be used with outside-mount shades and inside-mount is not recommended. I am guessing he didn't understand my question !...See MoreOutside mount Roller Shade WITH inside mount 2" wood blinds??
Comments (10)@lizbeth-gardener, yes, you're right. However, I'm thinking that the surface is smaller than drapes and easier to vacuum. I can use a hair dryer or compressed air can to blow the dust out of the cell insides, wait 10 minutes for the dust to settle, then vacuum the floor. I went to a couple of stores today, including Hunter Douglas, to look as shades, valances, etc. Ugh. Not pretty. Not happy. I guess I might start looking at washable curtains...or maybe consider buying a steam cleaner so I can regularly steam clean (steam kills dust mites) non-washable drapes on a regular basis....See MoreRoller Shades on Sliding Door - one or two?
Comments (3)In general, 10 feet wide roller shades are not a problem at all - specially motorized. The question is whether a roller shade (that operates bottom up) is the best way for a sliding door (opens side ways). Though you said that you might not use it very often, a panel blinds system that operates the same direction as the door might be the better choice.
