Comments (3)Royal Standard and Blue Angel were two of my thoughts as well. My flowers do rise well above the leaves so it isn't Elegans. Any thoughts on Lime Green. I can't imagine that it is Sum and Substance...it seems much neater and more upright mound that S&S? Thanks for your thoughts. I do appreciate it!...See MoreHosta I. D. Please #2 + ramble
Comments (15)Bkay...don't give up. It looks like I have lost more than I have now, from my records. Very discouraging. But some people have their entire collection wiped out by voles..... The ones I have from Chris this year are doing very well. Multi eyed and filling their pots with roots. They come to me in April as dormant roots with buds. They come up in a week and are happy. I'm done messing with tiny tc's, as I don't think it gets cold enough here for long enough to get those babies going strong. Chris grows them for 3 years first and they then have a good start, IMHO. I think I had some bad bark that brought in some nasties. I am thinking about getting some man made stuff to add to my pots to provide the drainage and water retention. Like Profile. http://www.profileevs.com/products/soil-enhancements Now, here in August, they are starting to decline and I'm getting less enthusiastic about tending them. Got the mealy bugs, but now I have a few with mites. For me, it comes down to whatever shows up next spring will be what I keep. I've peroxided, fungicide-ed, pesticide-ed, and re-potted all I am going to this year. I guess I'll just chalk it up to being a lousy hosta year. Here's hoping for a better 2016. It's those hand painted leaves than will hook you every time. Glorious. ;-) -Babka...See MoreHosta L 2024 .. . . . ... . ... ..
Comments (24)Mike, I love Lady Guinevere, so bright like Island Breeze. Happy your Love Pat is coming back….. can never tell the difference between Love Pat and Abiqua Drinking Gourd. They look the same to me. Also, I just may steal your cinder block idea for some small hostas. 👍🏽 Sandyslopes, Little Miss Sunshine is lovely! Have you ever seen the movie? Hysterical! Old_dirt, Your Liberty looks good in that blue pot, but to gain size I think you will have to put it in the ground. I potted some shrinking hostas last and they gained size. Great looking LP as well! debra...See MoreHosta R 2024 ^^^^^^^^^^^
Comments (28)Thanks mbug! Your hostas all look so good that it’s hard to imagine you have trouble growing any of them. I must have gotten lucky with my placement of Rare Breed. Ann, I understand avoiding extra work. I have a June that’s needed divided for two years now. But I always feel ambitious this time of year ….when I’m in the planning stage. Old_dirt, I had the same experience with Remember Me and joked that the name fits it. Remember Me because I won’t be here for very long. 😊 Your Risky Business is a stand out! Beth, what a pretty Rainforest Sunrise....See MoreRelated Professionals
