Comments (45)Sounds like you have your work cut out for you Jennifer. I was going to get my Roselle harvested in stages but decided to wait until it rained really good on it and then I will just pull up a chair for a few hours and get it done. I don’t like the time change happening, and I do not look forward to losing an hour of daylight in the afternoon. When I come home from work, I like to rest for a minute and then get in the garden by five 530 but now I will have to hurry up and get in the garden first. Today I’m going to try to get loads and loads of jam made For the market next weekend. I am starting off with plum regular plum. I got these from school. They were going to throw them away and it was about 3 gallons. They were too soft to serve not bad so I grabbed them. I was talking to my sister about decorating the house like I used to and I enjoyed it so much but I don’t really Have room here. Last year I did hang up some stockings, but that was it. no tree or anything like that of course. Jennifer, we don’t even notice typos because we don’t have time to fix all of our own. Let alone look at somebody else’s. My garden is going gangbusters and I’m really happy with it. I’ve been harvesting slowly, sugar, snap peas, and I have quite a few of those planted. I harvested three huge brandy wines. I did not even know they were in there until I moved a branch. There was one the other day that was half eaten. It was such a pretty tomato on the bottom, but the top half was eaten off. That is why I usually pick them when they are blushing. They’re gonna make a good pot of spaghetti sauce. I’m not really sharing those and I hope to get enough maybe even to can a few jars. Right now I need to go and wash about 100 jars lids and rings and all that and get to canning. Y’all have a good Saturday....See MoreClarification of new 2025 HVAC regs
Comments (7)sktn77a 20 hours ago "Three years after the compliance date (2025)." That would make it roughly 2028? sktn77a that foot note you're reading doesn't apply to this section. There's more phase out parameters than just HVAC split systems. That's why they have that small little 1 foot note to refer you to the section in which it applies. This is why I told you to be careful reading it. ------------------- costs are going up *but with caveats* ... it depends on the situation, as some installs will be more difficult than others to comply with codes / requirements etc. As a somewhat elaborate example: you have an older system you decide to repair (evap coil leaks) you replace the evaporator coil to fix the leak(s) -- refrigerant leaks. R410a or R22. Something happens to condenser? Depending on a plethora of other conditions it makes more sense to replace condenser? Well if you can not get R410a condenser (sold out or past Jan 1, 2026) then to switch to different refrigerant (R32 or R454b) the evap coil that you just changed will have to be changed again to a more or less compliant new refrigerant coil. So under these kinds of parameters easily a 30% cost disparity. If you buy it now and don't really need it? easily a 30% cost disparity. If you need it buy it now and then sell the house? easily a 30% cost disparity although it may help you sell the house? All of it tied to $MONEY$ (HVAC isn't a one size fits all market, never has been... and what I mention here is only tip of the proverbial ice berg.) Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Comments (11)Somewhat the same - busy time of the year! But we keep it pretty simple, so it's doable. DS is home from school, so that is extra nice! I keep buying myself presents though. Always happens when I look at those lists, I see something I want! We really don't buy for anyone but immediate family, so I don't even know why I look at those :) I've been focusing on the 800 gram challenge. I was impressed with KSWL doing that for years - that is great! It is a great way to eat better. I find it pretty challenging to get in 800 grams every day and that's pretty telling for me. I do eat a lot of seeds and nuts which do not count. And most of my veggies I eat roasted which you have to weigh after, so 800 grams is more than you think. I have had the BEST grapefruit this week - I love it when you get lucky with a delicious bag. But, I also eat granola bars, and cheese and nuts, and chips and tortilla chips :) So subbing in for those is a good thing for me! I will probably continue that challenge into January. I have been thinking about 2025 and stepping it up a notch! We have a family wedding at the end of March so that's good motivation to try to lose maybe 5 pounds? Not a lot, but since I've been steady for two years now, it would be a big change. Or maybe a couple inches in my waist. I think it's probably diet related, so I will continue trying to clean that up. I also bought a lift it log book to record my exercises. I've been adding weight to my routine slowly, but I am looking forward to having a year long log of progress. Plus, I just do better with some accountability and an actual plan. I've been trying to get outside even in the cold and/or drizzle. I really think that helps with my mood and sleep. It just can't be good to be inside all day. So, I'll probably continue with that challenge next year too, just to keep it front of mind. I still have 30 more hours before year end to get to 1000. The weather was great here Saturday, but I didn't have time for more than one regular walk. Funky - so great your SO is excited about your healthy meals! I hope you have the best visit and time off from work. I hear you on the chopping! Does your grocery offer prechopped or frozen mirepoix? I get that when I'm in the mood for soup, but not all the chopping. It's at least a start. Sue- - I hope you get good help from your dr and find things that help you, and a coffee solution! I used to have issues with that, and among other things I changed, I now sleep with my head slightly elevated which helped me a lot. I did have a wedge pillow, but we switched to the adjustable mattress years ago, and I love that thing! feathers- Of course I have that book! Ha! I went to re-read it after you mentioned it and I guess I bought the actual version instead of a kindle, so now I need to hunt it down. I'm a broken record on this, but I put it off for so long - strength training is so empowering. It just feels good to be stronger. I don't know that I really look different, yet, hopefully :) but I feel so different. I am a convert for sure! With so much room for improvement....See MoreWhat have you put up 2025
Comments (12)The mustard pickled eggs are put in the refrigerator and shaken occasionally for a week, then ready to eat. It keeps in the frig for several months. We make a lot of different varieties of pickled eggs as hubby loves them. I like cutting them in half and putting them into salads. Here is two other batches we did in 2024, chili pepper sauce in white vinegar and the other pickling spice in apple cider vinegar. These both were processed in a 10 min water bath and stored for later eating. Not everyone is comfortable with the idea of processing eggs as it has not been officially tested, so this is a personal choice and works for us....See MoreRelated Professionals
