Comments (2)Hey There: To be honest, you don't want to put lipstick on - well you know. The problem are the existing blinds, these upper boxes are to bulky and don't go at all with your windows - just change them out with pleated blinds that operate bottom up - top down. These blinds are less than 1 inch in depth and will host as inside mount to each window. The installation is so neat that they appear to be part of the window...furthermore you can manage light and privacy... Comments (34)Like others, I don’t see “black trim.” I see black accents. And they look great! The question is…do you want to add more black and make that dominant? Then go black and white buffalo check curtains in the living area and a matching Roman blind in the kitchen. Or mix it up with black and camel. Or…add a natural element with a sea grass blind with black tapes in the kitchen (a natural element), and draperies that coordinate with that (and include a touch of black in the fabric) in the living area. Then, add green plants or art or some bold color in the form of accessories, bowls, a colorful mixer, etc. to your counters. You have a beautiful kitchen. You haven’t begun to live in it, yet! Comments (4)Pictures of houses on decorating websites are taken with window coverings either pulled up or away, but IRL, if you drive down your street you'll see people have them partially or completely up or down depending on the time of day, which direction the windows face, etc. Since BHG isn't coming by to photograph my house anytime soon I don't worry too much about how it looks from the street. The only thing I think is important is to have white lining in everything that faces the street at least, and it's a rule of my HOA as well. It's OK to have fuschia curtains if that fits the room, but you don't want that color visible from outside. What you choose should be at least in part based on the style of your house inside, which room it is and which direction the windows face. You will find someone on this forum to advocate for every single type of window covering there is. Not everyone likes the same thing. To get over the decision paralysis, it might help to just take one room at a time. Can you post a picture of the room you want to do first?...See MoreNeed window treatment advice
Comments (16)I have curtains from S&N in one room; they're beautiful and high quality. I also have lots of shades and one curtain from Blinds.com and have been very happy with them. You can get cordless woven shades in a pretty large width, and they always have sales. We also splurged and got motorized shades from Hunter Douglas for a couple of rooms, and I feel so fancy every time they open and close on schedule. But window treatments are surprisingly expensive!...See MoreRelated Professionals
