I would add a throw rug for softness.

I love coverlets for nice look without being like a too warm comforter/ I use them all the time since we live where the only cold weather is actual winter .Something like this that does not look like an army blanket and then use some colors from it for piloows and I agree some softness on the floor, I like small rugs on either side of the bed sometimes better than a rug mostly hidden by the bed.These are just 2 ideas but check out coverlets .

I like what you have so far. How about a nice rug, maybe picking up the purple you might like? (I see a peek of purple pillowcases, which looks so nice with the green).

I don't think you need a "feature" wall behind the bed. The windows are great and plenty of feature.

I'm sure there's a great place to put some art on your walls somewhere, or maybe you already have that.

Then, do you have nightstands? Perhaps a lamp on nightstands OR wall-mounted lamps with some color or you can introduce some metal to the room with the lamps.

I do have one night stand but cannot find a matching one for the other side. So I will be on the search for those soon. I was thinking more a wood side table instead of a color. There is a light blue in the curtains but when I put blue pillows on the bed they don't seem to go with the green so we'll. Perhaps I will try some purple, I do like that color.  

Since you have a green cover, I would add a color on the wall behind the bed that coordinates with that. I can’t tell the colors in your curtains so can’t really recommend a particular color. Are the drapes blue and green? Or what? I do think you. We’d an accent wall and as others have said, a rug.

Nice start to a lovely room. I would get a wider curtain rod and add a few more of the same curtain panels you have now as well.

The challenge - Your bedspread is completely flat but your headboard is tufted. Total puffiness mismatch. Your spread would look great with a wood headboard instead of a an upholstered one. I love a flat spread and I love your color of green. But, the green looks really heavy with a neutral colored headboard.

A solution - Add a some slender pillows at the top that have both neutrals and green in them to help bridge the light colored headboard and green cover. Place a neutral colored throw at the foot of the bed to tie in the headboard color and add a big more dimension to the flatness of the bedspread.

Your light fixture is a nice brown. Throw that color in elsewhere in the room - brown textured window shades. Medium brown toned bedside tables.

Get a rug to anchor the space. I'd go for something a bit farmhouse looking - maybe a natural fiber or weave.

What's the vibe you want in here? I confess don't really understand the curtains with the bed cover......nor do I think you need a pattern at the window, and it seems these are mostly blue, and I can't find the red" : ))

Can you show the room from all angles? Can you post a few bedrooms that make you sigh with delight? The green seems to suggest.......or it doesn't?

Yes, I agree the green looks heavy with the solid headboard, but financially I can't switch out the headboard just yet, when I can I will go for wood.

The curtains are more green then blue, I think that picture I posted is a poor coloring so here is another.

I'm looking for another wooden sidetable to match the one I have, but if I can't I'll have to buy new ones. My dresser is also wood. I have included a picture.

I love the idea of the rug being a more natural weave or fiber and will look for that!

I'm trying to go for somewhat farmhouse because that's what the rest of my house is styled like.

Yes to adding a rug. That will add color and pattern to what is a semi-bland space right now. Would also love to see some nightstands and lamps. You have enough room to add a bench (perhaps with storage) at the foot of the bed. Would also suggest that you develop a color scheme that would tie the room together.

No need to match night stands. The trick is having the hieght match and use a pair of matching lamps.

A rug!! My personal preference would be as large a rug (with a green pattern) as I could afford. The floor gives off a kitchen/family room cold vibe. To me, anyway. A substantial rug would soften and warm the room.

I especially wanted to show having more curtains; yours are too skimpy for the window size. Would it be possible to get two more panels to add?

Art will make such a difference — bringing in warmth, interest, and personalization.

Your bed covering is fine, but would look nice layered. I’d try either folding it down at the bottom of the bed, or adding a throw across the bottom. It’s in some examples others have posted and you can find tons more inspiration pics to get an idea.

I would not do a ’feature’ wall … but would consider painting the whole room. Maybe a future project could be framing your windows like the ones in my inspiration photo.

If you haven’t already, browse FB Marketplace and other local buy/sell sites, as well as vintage/antique stores for budget-friendly vintage or slightly used furniture and/or art and other decor. For anything new, wait until you can afford quality over just filling space.

Does the current chair have to stay? I think you could find one in a more attractive style.

What does the fourth side of the room look like?

Larger less rustic tables and substantial lamps.

Light/layered bedding and a neutral rug.

Bump up dresser and the wall.

Here is the 4th wall. It's just the double doors to the master bathroom and entrance to the room.

With your dark green coverlet...

I think the options you have here could be a pretty good start depending on the look you are going for! I personally love a brown/cream/olive green look especially with a famrhouse style, and I think you could get there pretty easily from here.

For wall color, I think that depends on final goal. I agree with above, if you are going to add paint, do the whole room. OR do something fabulous with color on that tray ceiling. Personally, if I was keeping the light fabric headboard for a long time, I would paint as I think you need that contrast from the wall. If you are planning to go wood headboard, and don't love being surrounded by a deep rich color, then maybe hold off on the paint and just rely on artwork/rug/accents for color and personality.

I did the folowing mockup based on everything already in the room staying. Personally I would paint the room, this is SW2816 Rookwood Dark Green for reference. Get away from the purple sheets, stick with white/cream/etc. Bring in the neutral rug for texture and softness. Add large artwork or mirror above dresser. I would absolutely take advange of the windows above the bed and do a bamboo roman or wood shade because I love this look. I brought that warm brown further into the room with leather accent pillows and leather bench; a bench will also help your bed look more complete since you don't have a tall footboard. To create the layer look on the bed, add a throw or another bed blanket across the foot. I would do a cream color to soften the current coverlet. Lastly, tbale lamps when you get two nightstands. I added a rattan option here because I love the warmth and texture, but with the walls painted you could also do a pretty cream ceramic. I hope this helps give you some ideas!

Would any of these lamps work? I'm having a hard time with wether to add more color in with the lamps or keeping it neutral.

Why gray walls and dark green bed cover? These are going in opposite directions, to me. Plus the pale cool headboard.

In almost all types of cohesive decor for this room that I can imagine, the very dark bedspread is the one- off because is a large area of “ dark solid “ is a sea of light solids. Too much contrast in large amounts. Could improve with bold art on walls, perhaps.

If you don’t plan to re- paint for a long time, a new bedspread may be least expensive way to add done interest and more “ medium” color. A subtle stripe, small print that reads almost solid but has some of your green, gray or white, & a wood color in it. Do t have to go pastel- y, just not so stark.

Point is, I think you are at risk of mush- mash of soft- looking colors ( drapes, walls, headboard) and bolder high- contrast colors. Maybe collect some inspo pics that appeal to you.

Marmiegard- The walls are actually white. Just a different shade of white then the baseboards which may be why the picture makes it look gray. I'd agree that gray walls would look bad, I would not paint them that color.

I am concern about leather looking pillows for bedroom.

I got rid of the leather and then thought I'd use this rug. What are your thoughts?

With the pattern and scale of the curtains? I see busy, busy. Fine with no pattern at the window.

You don't need as many "ideas" as you are attempting in the space. Fall out of love with EITHER the bed cover, or the pattern at the window?
