Comments (20)Hi, sunkissed. On second thought I think the Brimnes is too tall. In my mock-up the idea was to have the storage unit to serve as an impromptu place for a person to set a drink or an appetizer plate if they are seated in one of your gray arm chairs. Basically, a credenza height. A height of 37" may make that uncomfortable. So, I'm leaning towards a total height of about 30". The EKET series has some good options. The first one is just over 10' wide. The second is 11 1/2' wide. Both are just over 31" tall. Here's a mock-up of scale to show you how the height would differ. For reference the chairs are 35 3/4" tall....See MoreFamily Room, Great Room Design, Decor , HELP
Comments (6)It looks like the best thing is to start with a new 3 seat sofa. Since you have the TV above the mantle, we assume you want your seating positioned that way. Then you will want two chairs to go on the wall directly across from the slider. You also may like a rug? Below you can get a lot of great ideas from designs of ours. Note the furniture, rugs, end tables, pillows, lamps, artwork, window treatments, coffee tables, and various other decor accessories....See MorePlease review my first pass on kitchen-breakfast-family room design
Comments (62)What shows you are going about this all wrong is you're honing in on the details (like where to put the dishwasher and fridge), yet you don't even have the big picture yet. I'm an artist. When I start to draw, I don't start with the eyes on the face. I first get the general placement of the figure, then rough in the lights and darks and the general overall feel. I then slowly start to refine everything and the more I refine, the more detailed I can get until finally I can start to detail the eyes, nose and mouth. A good architect will work the same way, only they'll consider the interior, the exterior and how the house sits on the land all at the same time. Not until they and their client have honed in on the overall look and feel, will they start to refine to first room sizes, then things like closets, then get into the details....See MoreDecorating, design, wall color for Family Room, kitchen combo help!
Comments (8)Repose walls and white cabinets will look great. So will the espresso. That is very dark brown, like coffee, right? I love picture frames that are simple flat panel espresso colored/stained wood where you can see the wood grain but they look like wonderful dark coffee and they are a good two inches wide on a big poster. (Yikes, I always see things in terms of food, granite counters look like vanilla fudge, or jamoca almond fudge ice cream, or nougat candy. I really couldn't do that, I'd be running to the store all the time!) There is a frequent commenter here, Anglophilia who used I think repose grey on her walls and white on her cabinets, or was it white on her walls and repose grey on her cabinets? I can't remember! Why not invite her on this thread and ask her. She used Corian white countertops and Carrara marble backsplash and her kitchen looks just wonderful. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/4779243/finally-my-kitchen-reveal-work-completed-in-aug-2016...See MoreRelated Professionals
