I found out how to post pics, Also: is it tacky/wrong to use a wall-mounted hood over a freestanding range? I usually see nice range hoods over slide in ranges or cooktops. Thoughts?

I have a bad back and really love standing on my parents' cork kitchen floor, which they had installed 8 years ago. Their floor has weathered well and they have had no problems. This past year we renovated our kitchen and I looked into cork. The market has changed a lot. A ton of companies have been sold and combined. We got samples and did tons of research and couldn't find a company that has as much actual cork in the flooring as what my parents had. Such a small percentage is actually cork and much more of it is just underlayment material. We also had a hard time finding really experienced installers - and we live in NYC where you can find pretty much anything you want. It used to be very popular here but since so few people are using it, there are fewer installers who really know what they are doing. It is not the most beautiful flooring for sure, so in the end we really could not find a reason to use it.

I was imagining the scenario where one of your kids lives here as a married couple for a year, or two… or more??? 😬 Here is an idea I played around with. So yes, this kitchen is bigger then the other nook ideas. But, this kitchen idea is based on my personal experience of my husband and I living in a 450 sq ft tiny house for almost 3 years. Maybe for your kids’ lifestyle, this kitchen is way overkill. But for us, the kitchen appliance sizes, food storage, shower size, and space for our bed was what was most important to us to function in a tiny house, I know what you are thinking…. No! The guests need to access the bathroom without having to go through the bedroom area. I get it! I designed my tiny home based on that very scenerio. But from my experience, whenever I had guests over, they always wanted to see the whole space. They are facinated by it. I end up showing them everything, including my bedroom. I just make my bed and clean up any random clutter. My advice is… do not design the space for the once or twice a year scenario that someone stops by unexpectedly and says, oh hey, can I use your bathroom? You panic because you haven’t made the bed! Lol! Hmm, I did not do the mesurements on a queen size bed fitting. So may need to rearrange the bedroom / bath area??? 🤔

MY advice id firsr take everything out that is not a must . That includes kids stuff , dog crat e and all the table sna nd other units that are holding stuff. You need actual lighting not a fan light so end tables and lamps for sure . The measurements are helpful but we need a to scale floor plan showing every window, doorway and where those lead . All the measurements clearly marked and all the funiture measurements too. As for wall color that comes later after you figur eout what to keep in the space .If that is your only child thye look big enought to have all that play stuff in their room and can bring things out and put them back as they play. Prety sure the dog crate can find a better home too.I disliek gallery walls and for sure if they are family photos IMO they do not belong in more public places but a hallways leading to bedrooms is a great place to do thoe matching frames. . So post the floor plan here on graph paper in jpeg format all the info clearly marked and post here in a comment DO NOT start another post.
