That's funny! It's the cover from last year's UK catalogue! I wonder if the rest of it will be the same.

Yeah, mine came last week as well! I wondered why the cover looked familiar to me, vaporvac.

Got mine today, with the 10% code and free shipping >$175.

Is anyone trying Dannahue this year?

  • last month

I got two of them last week. I am so lucky to grow Jude the Obscure, so no Dannahue for me, and I doubt any new Austins at all, unless something really strikes me at Edwards, and I'm willing to dig up a rose to make a space. I would do that for Eisvoget, but didn't see that in the catalog-heh. Diane

I used to get catalogues, but haven't for a few years.

Carol, perhaps I could send you my extra catalog by pack mule up to Canada. Not funny. Any idea when your mail service will resume? Diane

Mule train...clippety-clop, clippety-clop. :) I just checked, and it said no quick end to it. I didn't read the article. Amazon is making a killing off of this which is unfortunate for the small businesses who rely on Canada Post.

That’s a really gorgeous cover pic, beautifully sun drenched, an Impressionist painting come to life. Is it Dannahue? The pics on HMF look to be an skimpy ordinary apricot yellow bloom with not enough petals. My compliments to the photographer! The rose itself, not so much. (How’s that for a backhanded compliment, lol!)

I think gardening in general has its wonderful , beautiful, exciting moments but it doesn't take long to find that it's not always that way. I think any given rose is not always going to be at its best. Commercial nurseries are not going to post pics of plants looking their worst, but unless photoshopped the glamour shots probably catch them at their best, so real. They don't claim your plant will always look like the pics.

If you got a "true impression" of a rose in real life you'd have to visit that rose a number of times during the year or you might think it's always ugly or always beautiful.

I'm glad to hear Thierry Marx is showing good vigor for you , Bart. I want that one. I looked up who it's named for and it's a chef.

I have the UK Catalog from 2024 and that is definitely the same photo lol. We are getting the hand-me-down cover photos now haha 😂 Probably everything in there is the same except maybe certain roses they dont sell here yet or at all and the price values.

bart bart, my Mill On the Floss sometimes does get a much pinker edging on the flowers. Usually this happens in cooler weather here. It is a huge vigorous rose. It can be a climber in Florida. The first few yrs it didnt bloom much but this past year it bloomed like crazy all through our humid hot summer plus the leaves remained disease free. It is usually pale to almost medium pink. The palest colors are during hot temps.

I ordered Dannahue. I am hopping it looks like Jude but with better black spot resistance even if not as fragrant. The blooms I have seen online are definitely on the lighter side, and not intense like LoS on the cover here.

My unicorn Royal Jubilee is listed in the Index by Color in the back. Crossing all fingers and toes that means they will bring her back at some point.

Lily, I just checked on the David Austin website, and Royal Jubilee is out of stock and there is no option to get on a wait list for this one.

Munstead Wood is out of stock now, but there is a wait list option for that rose. Diane

Diane- Thank you for checking! I have been on the hunt for RJ for at least a year. She has sentimental meaning to me. DA likes to play games by still including her in various advertisements but not having her available for sale. I am hoping she will be like MW and make a return.

I just added 6 more to my original order lol. I am excited to get Wollerton Old Hall. By the way, Munstead Wood and Evelyn are still available as Bare Root roses. I added 2 more Evelyns so now have 3 coming :)

Sultry, Austin must have restocked Evelyn and Munstead after I looked. Good. I'm not ordering, but I was curious about Munstead, since that rose is no longer available in England and Europe, according to the UK/EU people. Of course, I posted my feelings about David Austin doing that to them. I feel like Evelyn and Munstead, among others. are national treasures for UK, and should be sold by their fellow countrymen/women always. Diane

Yes, I think they may have restocked the MW bare roots. I was able to order one this time. I already have MW but can one have too many of Mr dark & mysterious? lol. The Own Roots are out of stock on everything right now. Diane, your Evelyns are gorgeous! My new Evelyns will need to take note haha. Abe usually does better than Evelyn here but I figured I would get some extras while they are still available. I am going to practice grafting to my Pink Clouds, Glorie des Rosomanes, & Fortuniana rootstock. Those 3 roses seem to grow amazing here.

No Penelope Lively this year. I wonder if she is going to make much of a splash this side of the pond. She interests me because of what I have read about her size and perfume.
