Comments (5)I would recommend an accenting wood or product to go up against the 20 year old flooring. Matching will be nearly impossible. You may get it to match 99.9 % but it will still resemble a mistake. If you accent , it will look intended with design in mind. good Luck.I always agree with glenn, I just think your gambling with the matching idea...even with a pro...Good Luck.....See MoreDownsized to a ranch...ready to decorate the great room.
Comments (11)Hi Lisa -- Congrats on the new house; it certainly looks like you've settled in! There was recently a thread with a similar Q re a set-up like yours.Edit: here it is I said in that thread that I think it's best to treat the fireplace as a design element, but not the focal point -- especially in a room meant to be a hangout/TV space. Let's face it, in these times most of us spend more time in front of a TV than an FP! What that means for your space is moving the sofa closer to the FP -- and possibly back closer to the piano if you think you can go less than 3' wide with your walkway. Then I'd center your TBD TV on the sofa, and put a chair that faces the sofa on each side of the TV. I'd try your chairs on an angle facing into the sofa or straight across. The chairs don't have to be pushed back to the wall, either...they can float out closer to your sofa and coffee table while the TV sits back. You'll probably need new side tables for your chairs but you can see if the current ones work. Re chair fabric -- I don't know...I see something that brings in the dark tones you have in the space (piano, cabs, dining set) but I'm not sure the stripes are the best direction. Something more like the direction of your pillows? Or if florals are ok, one that mixes medium/dark/light tones? Good luck and keep us posted!...See MoreTile for kitchen floor and foyer
Comments (4)Source your tile through a local tile shop, rectified porcelain allows for the smallest grout lines. The shop will allow you to take samples home - do so. You need to see the color at different times of day and how the color looks abutting your wood floor. I prefer a matte finish. Shop will know the best installer. Comments (17)Tiger wood is often a factory finished product. And just to make things interesting, the name 'Tiger Wood' is not due to a species...it is a 'look' based on the heavy striation in the wood. Are you floors site finished (completely flat...no bevels/valleys between each and every plank)? Or were they factory finished? Can you show us a photo of your chosen marble for the counter tops?...See MoreRelated Professionals
