My sister bought a memory foam mattress and she and her husband had issues with heat retention. I gave them a 3" natural latex foam topper and the problem was solved. Memory foam works through a chemical reaction that loosens the bonds with heat, making it softer where it is warm and more firm where it is not warm. It is also quite dense, reducing air flow. What happens is that you sink into the mattress where you are laying and the mattress becomes softer where you are laying, so you get trapped in the hole. This will not happen with natural latex. It does not change density when exposed to body heat. Factors impacting mattresses sleeping hot are body weight and mattress firmness. The heavier you are and the softer the mattress the more likely you are going to sink into the layers and create a trap for body heat.

Looking at your pictures it seems like the headboard is appropriately level with the top of the mattress. You want the bottom of the headboard below the top of the mattress. Given that this is correct the issue is the size of the comforter. I don't know if manufacturers haven't kept up with the mattress makers, but it does seem that many comforters are simply too small to adequately cover the thickness of today's mattress. I actually buy king sized comforters for my queen sized beds and feel that the proportions are better (I don't get expensive comforters because my dog is allowed on the beds). I also remember having to special order deep pocket sheets when I bought a mattress that was 12" thick. Now standard sheets fit a 12" mattress and you deep pocket sheets are found in every department store. I just pulled up a King sized comforter on Macy's Look at the depth of the mattress on the ad. - not the thickness of my new mattress! The dimensions of the comforter are 104x88 The dimensions of the top of your mattress are 76 x 80 So you have 8 inches longer than your mattress (not designed to go to the very top of the mattress) and 28" wider than your mattress (14" on each side") The drop will be slightly less - so probably 12" drop on each side. If you have a 12" mattress this bedding will just cover the mattress and leave no coverage for the box spring.

An adjustable bed goes inside what the becomes solely a decorative bed frame around the adjustable bed frame. An adjustable bed cannot be used with a platform bed because there the middle isn't hollow. The adjustable bed is used in a bed that would otherwise use a box frame and slats to hold the mattress. You only need a mattress with an adjustable. bed. In other words, the feet on the adjustable bed are what is actually supporting you and the mattress. You need to have sufficient length so that when the head and foot go up and down there is sufficient room. Often adjustable beds are only used with head boards since no "frame" is necessary and you only need the decorative element. I know a lot of people with adjustable beds and the majority of them just opt for decorative headboards. You If you have chosen your adjustable bed, you could check with the manufacturer and find out exact specifications. I have an adjustable bed and I absolutely love it. Mine is a Leggett & Platt which I recommend. I did quite a bit of research before buying mine and it was very well reviewed. Mine has a massage which sounds hokey but seems to work as part of my sleep ritual as I turn off the lights - turn the television on to something lulling with a timer and I am generally asleep about 10 minutes into the program - luckily I watch everything on DVR so I don't worry about missing anything on the program.

On mine, the legs are only noticeable on the footboard end. I plan on making a bedskirt once I figure out how to make it work.
