Are entertainment centers/wall units still in vogue?
Comments (47)I think the outdated look is the one where the entertainment center is too big for the room. When it overwhelms everything in the room and is the center of attention. That "look" is outdated but the actual entertainment centers are not IMO. Here are a couple pics of mine. It's huge. But the room is huge and is open to the kitchen and the ceiling is 18' tall so the room isn't overwhelmed by the furniture's mass. I've included a full view of my room just to illustrate that there are other more important things to look at in the room than just the entertainment center. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!...See MoreWall Mounted Floating Modern Entertainment Center Fly I, White, I2

Comments (4)Wood products are very expensive now due to material shortages. You might do better to wait, but there are no guarantees prices will go back down in the next year. Are there any local cabinet manufacturers who could do a built-in for you? We have used a company that primarily advertises themselves as a kitchen cabinet supplier, but they have always done bathroom vanities and bookcases if you asked. Recently they changed their branding to convey the breadth of their offerings as they caught on to this opportunity for more sales. My point is that any cabinet manufacturer can construct a built-in using their stock cabinets using a little imagination. The cost of this is more reasonable than a true custom (built on site) unit, and is less than true furniture like you're seeing at Arhaus. In our case, since they are local they're not shipping the product a great distance so the delivery is free unless it's a small piece. If you use some of their stock molding options and trim pieces it can be as attractive as real furniture. You would have to either be able to put it together yourself or engage a contractor to do it for you. While this type of service is not going to be found everywhere, it might be worth looking into whether it is near you....See MoreAdvice on TV wall please- new entertainment center, or console, etc?
Comments (8)I like the layout you have. One can stretch out on the wall sofa to watch. Just move everything back a bit. It looks like the sofa facing the TV could be moved back a foot. Move the wall sofa almost to the floor vent. The armchair in the corner can be in front of the stationary side of the slider and at an angle facing the TV. I agree, lower the TV. Only the upper two thirds of a TV should be above eye level when seated. Get a TV stand at proper viewing height. There a lots of choices but a wide one would be nice. P.S. I took a while to post and just saw the diagram but I prefer my TV a little higher than that-- with the eye level not in the middle of the screen but 2/3's down from the top. These photos are concepts and not meant to determine your viewing height....See MoreRelated Professionals
