Blanket complete for friend....Tiffany blue

Not project linus which I put on hold, but another blanket for my friend. I felt badly with the first one I made her as it was with chunky yarn and ended weighing 7 lbs! She said she loved it and it wasn't too heavy....but she's such a sweetheart. I mean that's great for a NE winter, but she moved down south. So I wanted to fix my mistake by making her a lighter weight throw for the warmer months...

So this one was made with Caron Super Soft (exactly 8) and weighs under 3 lbs. I fell in love with the color. Will definitely tie it with a white ribbon!

Pattern: https://jototheworld.com/classic-baby-blanket-crochet-pattern Very easy and worked up quickly, though it still took a lot of hooking as the finished blanket is 66"x44".

The edges looked lovely so no border, except on the bottom starting row, I added a row of scallops from the pattern to give it the same look.

One note on the burlap. If your downspout runoff heads in a straight line, then just use the garden staples (it will be a blue and grey box near the burlap and weed block fabric at HD), to stake down the end as close to (or even under) the downspout. Then just unroll straight away from it and cut when you need. You'll only need 2 staples at the far end and maybe 1 or 2 on each side. Once it's wet it tends to stay down very nicely unless you get massive winds. Less staples will have less chance of yanking soil out afterwards. You'll have a feeling of the burlap kind of stuck to the soil when you go to pull it up, seeds should be ok, even my shallow rooted suckers stayed in. A second note is if you need to over lap the burlap remember to work away from the gutter towards and only overlap as slightly as needed. Again you'll need very few staples once things are wet unless it's really really windy.

Joann puts their fleece on sale for 40 or 50% off every few weeks, but not all of it at the same time, so it pays to keep track with their mailing or email list. The cheapest solid color fleece they sell pills very badly - it's often already staring to do it on the bolt, but the no pill and blizzard holds up better. My dog has a crate mat I made 10 years ago that I think has the no pill fleece and while the pile is very flattened it's held up well to years of hot heavy duty washes.

I have used one for years as we turn the heat way down at night. I love how it warms up the bed before I get in, and I may turn it off later on. FYI: There are only 2 companies in the US that make the blankets. One is Sunbeam and the other is in the Chicago area. Sorry but the name escapes me right now. If your blanket "dies", contact the manufacture for help. If it is the control they should replace it for free. Control malfunction is a major concern for them, so they aim to please. I am on my 3rd unit as the blanket is fine. Heck, they even replaced the control on one blanket after the puppy chewed on it! I was more than willing to pay for that one, but they said nope, they understood puppies.

what a fun room! I'd go with a first throw..I like to combine patterns. Flowers plus checkboard..real cool. and I like how many colors the first one has inside. Almost all colors you have in the room already. And it is so cozy-looking. You can't really go wrong with any option-but first is my favorite

Oh how lovely, Annie. I really like the stitch design and you can't go wrong with that color. Your friend is going to be thrilled.

My sister-in-law crocheted a christening gown when I had my first baby and it was a marvel to see all those tiny stitches done with crochet thread.

Recently I have been on a hat kick (instant gratification, you know, much more so than blankets). I start crocheting when it gets cold outside and I have donated more than 50 hats so far this winter.

I think you've inspired me to pick up my hooks and yarn again now that we finally have some 'crocheting weather'.
