I have one 736 built into a wall of cabinetry for all my basic fridge/freezer needs plus undercounter 700 series fridge drawers to handle the large amount of produce we go through. I don't keep a lot of of frozen stuff on hand so the freezer space in the 736 is adequate for us but if I were trying to freeze a lot of soups and stocks as well as put away a bumper crop of tomatoes, I'd want more capacity.

After about 10 years of keeping the Service Dept of the Mercedes Benz dealership well financed, I finally got tired of that, and bought a 1993 Cadillac Allante. It has seen the Cadillac Dealer service dept once, and that was to buy and install a battery for it. I have a friend that still buys Mercedes, and after 70,000 miles gets rid of them as He says that's when the repair expenses start to really escalate! I did buy a Miele DW, back in 2006, as it was the ONLY DW, back in 2006 that had the 3rd tray, (cutlery rack). It is rarely used, and has been trouble free, whilst my Electrolux Oven, speed oven, Induction cooktop and wine fridge are used all the time, and are alto trouble free. My Jenn-air fridge has only needed 1 repair about $350, since 2006, You cant even talk to an SZ repair man for that (yeah I'm exaggerating just a little) and I doubt you would be able to get much repaired on a Liebherr fridge for that price either. Moral here, is there are more makes of fridges other than SZ or Liebher. Take a look at some of the Whirlpool products, (Kitchen-Aid, Jenn-air, Whirlpool), Look at some of the GE's. When I had my rentals, I just bought "garden variety fridges", and I never had any problems with them, certainly not the kinds of problems that you see with this new "esoteric Expensive Stuff"! Gary

KitchenGal: FWIW, I'm 5'1" and gave up on integrated models because of it. Even though I love the style of a French door fridge, I'm going to the SZ SxS because of the abundant and convenient space in fridge AND freezer (freezer in 36 FD was very low/small) and for the very convenient water and ice dispensers (available in 42" as malba stated above). But I used a FD LG for 10 years and tired of (what was for me) the hard-to-use freezer… We will not have additional fridge/freezer for ecological reasons, so the SxS is a good choice for us.

I didn't see this thread until now but I don't know if it would have changed my mind or not. I am in the midst of a high end kitchen renovation and was agonizing about this decision for a while; I did decide on the counter depth Bosch as it is 1/4 of the price of the SZ. It DOES have 2 compressors which was a selling point for me (vs the SZ which has the 2 compressors). I like that Bosch has the split shelves, the door shelves that accomodate gallon containers, the programable produce drawers, the larger freezer, and the French doors vs the single door in the SZ. I got rid of my 25 year old SZ that hasn't been in good shape for over 5 years (with produce spoiling quickly, etc). Ironically my extra 25 year old Kitchen Aid fridge that I keep in the garage still operates well and better than the 25 year old SZ did, but you can't get Kitchen Aids like that any more. Additionally, all the contractors do not think highly of SZ at this point. I don't have my Bosch long enough to comment about the alarm or reliability at this point.
