@carsoncitypalms I started out joking, but seriously, that could be done. I am supplied with propagates by New Life Nurseries in Perris. They are set up with the USDA and ship as far as Texas. They don't do Mexican fan palms because they would not believe that there is a market. But they could have 1000 sprouts to you by next season for $500 plus shipping. As for myself, I have trimmed about 15,000 palm trees in my carreer if you count trimming the same palm each year for 20 years as 20. My records are over 900 in on summer season and 132 in two days on Catalina Island. A prime selling point to the hotels and commercial properties is that if they trim between June 15 and July 15, that they won't have to deal with the seeds. It is not unusual to walk on to a hotel property that has not listened and find several hundred Mexican fan palm sprouts in the gardens that they expect the landscapers to weed out. If they wait to August, the trimmer and ground crew has to deal with 75 pounds of green seeds on each tree which explode and spread as soon as they hit the ground. Since the daily quota is 20 70-foot palms, this can be 1500 pounds of seeds. By late September, the seeds are ripe, gooey and sticky. Here is another idea. Load the family up in the car and take them to Disneyland at the end of June. Attach a trailer with potting soil and propagate trays. After going to Disneyland, go around to the hotels and offer to weed their gardens for free. Write the whole trip off as a business expense.

Digdirt2: I bough a packet for less than 1€ or 2€ and there were a tiny bit of seeds at the bottom of the packet, so I just sprinkled them into that plastic container after adding bags of soil into it. 2 days later all the seedlings appeared. The packet just say just sprinkle into a container. Not good info on the packet. I did not want that many plants, but I thought not all will germinate. I did sprinkle such packet before into the rough soil outside and they germinated here and there, but I had to dump soil over them in order to plant bananas and oranges later, so that spot was destroyed. Wormgirl: Thanks, I will. Right now I dumped most of the seedlings with their soil next to the stone wall onto the stoney ground in long rows leaning to the wall and ground. I will plant some of the remaining ones into small cups as well. Thanks very much for the advise. I have nursery cups with holes in them, all kinds of, but good potting soil is hard to come by here. Or it is extremely expensive. So I am making my own compost from food remains, but that will take years. The soil in the photo is from supermarker at 1€ per smallish bag and is probably not the best potting soil and even that one is not available in big quantity. I bought a few trucks of local soil, but it is a poor soil, light brown with many stones in it, some tiles, weeds, lots of new grass in it. 10€ per cubic metre plus delivery. On a small island the shopping kind of sucks. Giving away to friends, everyone has their own garden here. I am new here, they are not :-) They give me lemons, oranges sometimes. I dumped a lot of these seeds into the stoney ground soil all around my place to see what will come up. Will take time and lots of money to slowly make space for garden and fill up soil by trucks. Now you know my situation. Lack of potting soil and lack of gardening space. We are now getting 22-24C with (16)19-20C at night, but never hot or freezing cold. I noticed that during "winter" tomatoes don't grow here because most of the time it is 10C to 13C (50-55F) night and day, with only occasional 16-18C. I will now hunt for more potting soil to fill up one 40L container for one single tomato plant.

Update: Eucalyptus deglupta that I raised several dozen of and only this past winter I planted 6 of them into the ground at an elevation of around 150 m above sea level, into a poor "soil". They did not grow too large in their pots over the past 5 years. After clearing an acre or so of shrubby woods with an excavator I was struggling to find some soil to purchase in order to cover the field. The soil I covered it with by just a barely a foot or so is very poor and has a lot of volcanic "gravel" in it mostly, stones and clay. It is dug up from down deep so it has got no organic matter yet. Finally the 6 x "Arcoiris" (Rainbow Eucalyptus) are in the ground and are slowly growing. Some showing deep, red foliage and some green foliage. The bark is still mostly light brown with some opened up patches of light green. They should show more colour when the trunks grow to at least 10-15 cm thickness if they will have tropicals colours here at all. Will see how their bark will look after several more years, whether all brownish and light green or will show some more tropical colours such as orange, red and especially blue. I will post an update then and now here are some photos of the pot-grown ones after 5 years (they grow very slowly in the pots): Anyone growing these in Portugal or Spain please post up close photos of the bark of larger E.d. (Eucalypto arcoiris) trees if possible.
