How would you update?
Comments (2)I think you will need to provide better photos since details don't show up well in the above photo. If you stood roughly near the center of the house wall and panned the back yard looking outward, taking slightly overlapping photos, I think we could get a better idea of what the existing yard presents. Possibly, add another shot taken from inside the dining room door that shows how close the pool feels....See MoreHow would you update & add a landing. Will use as living room
Comments (6)I have had this problem going from game room into media room. A step down was done and it is horrible because it isn't wide enough to fit your foot firmly onto the step. It needs to be around 18" from wall under door outward. Just practically speaking. This is a dangerous situation. But at least you will have room if you are using as a living room and could possibly put a curved, raised area making it at least 6" wider than the door opening. A small railing might be needed as well. Difficult situation. It was a carpeted step as well so visually gave no clue to the step off. I would do a step in a stained wood onto the carpeted area. That would give a visual cue that there is a step. You might be able to split the distance from the threshold of the door and build up the step half of that distance for two steps which are easier to handle than standard step/riser height....See MoreHow would I update my living Room?
Comments (24)Is the popcorn ceiling a no no? It's outdated & has its issues. But, removal is a project I've avoided! lol! You have a lovely room but you are ready for something different! As others suggest, take everything out, bring in your basic sofa & comfy chair and then slowly add things back in. It will feel odd to have open areas, but give it time. Lighter rug and drapes would make a big difference and the mantle is abit overpowering....See Morehow would you update this living room?
Comments (14)I'll answer here instead of on the duplicate post you wrote asking the same question. First thing is to get three quotes on the cost of replacing the window. It might be out of your budget for the time being but it is best to really know what you are dealing with. Perhaps you will be swayed to remove it. If it is still out of reach financially then do as others have said - remove the cabinets but replace them with shelves that run along the wall under the window. Paint shelves and all of your walls the same color. New floors....See MoreRelated Professionals
