I can see this is an older thread - but hope I might still get some info/advice: I planted a Blue Muffin about 3 years ago - but in a NE exposure in a foundation area at front of my home - as it was just what I wanted for the spot. Its sun is also reduced somewhat from the shadow/overhang of the house. I haven't had any flowers or berries (though I have an arrowhead and some others in my backyard, though unfortunately none on the list of viburnum pollinators in this thread) - though the plant has been in good health. In current circumstances, am I at all likely to get flowers/berries, - or do I need to re-site it? I took a tug at it today with my fork - and the roots seem pretty well-developed. It's also been growing 'straight up' - and I'd like to prune it a bit for some shape at this time - whether it stays where it is or I move it - I assume that won't affect the 'lack of' flowers/berries this year (!); ie, I assume w/o flowers I won't get berries. Thank you for any information or advice those on this forum can offer. 'Much appreciated.

I can only speak for the native ones. The most upright ones in my area are V. rufidulum and V. prunifolium. They can easily be considered small trees. As for berries, the V. dentatum ones disappear the fastest but the V. nudum ones are popular too. V. acerifolium ones stay on the longest ... but I just saw a robin snacking on them the other day.

My turn... with Ark's blessing I'm going to post some fall pics taken in Fort Smith yesterday. Unfortunately, the trees peaked 2-3 days before I could get the camera out and most trees lost a LOT of color, especially the sugar maples. That's a beauty man. Got some beef to it actually. Mine I got in 2001 while working at a nursery. I swear the thing was 10 feet tall with a trunk as thick as copper pipe for plumbing. It also had like a branching structure the size of one of those things we as kids used to hop around on, that thing that was like a big balloon with handles. It was the weakest looking thing I had ever seen. They gave it to me. Then for about two years it sat there in my yard, same as yours, no peeling...no growing. Then it grew two feet the third year. Then the fourth year it grew 6 inches. Then again the fifth year two feet all in the meantime now the trunk has some girth. It's a great tree. Fall color poor for four years. Then wammo! This year I had a bumper crop of seeds to boot. Man I couldn't be happier. Well thanks, I like your's too. Their for guys that wear black caps that say on the cap to look out for guys that wear black caps. Kind of like a Chevy truck commercial, you know?
