IMO you have lighting issues that need attention and for me that is the first step. The kitchen needs pot lights the LR also needs some ...Lighting is a layered thing so pot lights for all over lighting then table lamps . floor lamps task lighting it all needs to work together . I think I need a bit of an idea of your style. I do not like kitchen floors that are open to the wood floors a good ide a. So I would do the flooring in the kitchen to match the rest . Then you see how the spaces feel and than you choose wall color and decide it the trim needs painting or not .. I do no like the cabinet color with the floors but what are you planning for the refinished flooring.. The problem is when doing major work before living ina space it often backfires so if st all possible wait before doing huge changes . Do you love to cook? If so that kitchen is small . Sorry off the topic but I hope I helped a bit . If the floors have to be done before move in then buy enough unfinished flooring the same woo to do the kitchen make sure who ever does the rest of the floor can comeback and match the new woof flooring in the soon to be new kicthen .

Your floors are oak and will be sanded and refinished, correct? I would not replace them if they are in good condition. And I suspect they can be site matched should you decide to remodel the kitchen at a future date. Is your style traditional, transitional, modern? Your windows have muntins that appear to be removeable. As they are, they lean towards a traditional vibe. It seems that your question is really about floor color AND trim color. You could keep your wood trim AS IS. OR, paint it all a shade of white, if that is what you prefer. I don’t see a problem with the window color with the trim that you have. What are you inclined to do with the windows? Are you replacing or keeping them? I would probably NOT go black with them as that seems to be a very specific style. If you aren’t going to replace with a wood or wood look color, then I would do white. First things first? I would choose a floor color…and do that before moving in.

Have you budgeted for all the things you need to do before cosmetic work can or should be addressed? Are the HVAC/Electical/Plumbing/Roof/Gutters all in good/working condition?

Before you do one cosmetic update you need to have a plan.

Most of us do not have the money to buy a home and renovate the entire home and buy all new furnishings, so we have to figure things out.

Do an inventory of the home.

Room by room, what will you be replacing, what will you need to live with?

What furniture do you own that you will bring with you and how long do you need to keep it before replacing it?

Right now you have kind of a mish mosh of colors going on.

Floors are getting refinished so that color does not need to be considered.

I would replace the flooring in the kitchen and baths. I am not a fan of wood in the kitchen and baths, so I would probably replace with a stone or tile look LVP.

The flooring color you choose is going to set the color tone for the entire home.

If you keep the trim I would stain the floors to match or possibly just a touch darker than the trim.

Since the trim is a very warm color it is going to limit your wall colors to warmer neutrals

To blend the kitchen cabinetry and the warm wood you would need to replace the flooring in the kitchen with something that blends the two.

Painting the trim white opens a whole new world of colors, and you could go more neutral gray tones.

I own a lot of things that are purple, taupe, wine reds that would not look good with your wood tones. Most people abhore any paint color with pink or purple undertones, so I am in the minority.

For me I would pain the trim and end up with something like this:

There is nothing wrong with your warm wood tones, if they are colors you like. There is nothing wrong with painting the trim and doors white and changing the color palette.

You will have to make sure that the colors you pick work with the existing surfaces that you don't plan to change/replace. Fireplace, Cabinets, furniture.

What you don't want is to end up with floors that clash with your trim.

Keeping the trim will be much less expensive and lower maintenance than painting the trim, but it does limit your color palette.

After budgeting for HVAC/Electical/Plumbing/Roof/Gutters, we are going to prioritize the kitchen first with the plan to continue the wood floor through the kitchen, new cabinets/appliances. We are thinking of keeping the wood trim for now and having the floors stained a similar or slightly darker color and doing a very light beige/off white. For the floor covering I just used a flooring company visualizer. There are bunches of them on the internet.

They allow you to change the flooring, pick a wall color. Nothing terribly fancy, but worked for demonstration purposes.

I do love the wood trim and having the floors and trim matching will give the home a great richness and warmth. The hardest part was working the grayer/cooler kitchen cabinets into the plan.
