living room color palette
Looking for color palette ideas to match this couch. Looking for accent chairs, coffee table, pillows etc. Totally not sure what direction to take this

Comments (11)It's hard to tell if the grays in the color palettes would work with the carpet. The carpet looks sort of light taupe on my monitor. But I think the blue/teal shades would be lovely. I especially like the light silvery green shade third from the left on the palette above. It reminds me of SW Sea Salt. Comments (1)"Modern/upscale" and "easy to resell" don't necessarily mean the same things. If you're renovating with resale in mind look at local listings and see whats popular in your area. But if you're not selling for 5-10 years don't worry about it, trends will change. Comments (0)We recently purchased a very interesting house that used to be a church. I love the stained glass throughout the first floor but I am at a loss at how to incorporate them into the decor. The living room has a giant fireplace dominating one wall, gray stone. The mantel area is carsiding. The stained glass is very simple, mostly light gold\yellow, with red and green accents (some of the other rooms have purple and blue as well). You can see the walls are currently a mustardy-beige with a pumpkin wall opposite the fireplace. In general I am not an earthy colors person. I prefer cool tones and vibrant colors, pinks, purples, blues over reds, yellows, browns. We are starting from scratch so I'm completely open to a color palette but pulling the colors from the stained glass, I'm just not sure how to combine them into something that looks mature. Primary colors so easily look "daycare" to me. I'm leaning towards maybe Moroccan or Persian? PRO5 days agoStart with the rug. It will be easy from there. You'll pull the colors of the rug for your accent chairs & other accent furnishings.

PRO4 days agolast modified: 4 days agoI would go more in this direction and maybe start with a pices of art to draw color from the srt can easily set the plaette as for chairs what direction are you going in for the actaul decor / I think the sofa can go many ways it is simple so find chairs you love then work from them too.

4 days agolast modified: 4 days agoI don't think the cane chairs look uncomfortable, nor do they look too casual. Two of these perfect scale chairs, with your elegant sofa, will be gorgeous in your formal space. Cane and velvet have been a couple for many, many years.
PRO4 days agoCasual sophisticated …mixing warm colors but keeping the colors very subtle and understated….mix of textures and neutrals…a room that is not stuffy but very inviting.
4 days agoIt’s a beautiful sofa. Love the color and style! Do you have any color preferences? You can go any number of ways.

There are glass tables in some of these and I never recommend glass, if there are children or teens in a space - so just have to say that. And I used a lot of patterned pillows in these, which of course is up to your preference whether you prefer solids or patterns or a mix. These are just to show some general color ideas , etc.

As I have a chance to read through the thread now, I think maybe the OP just decided to get the cane chairs and move on.
These are a couple more I did the other day. Just posting them for fun. I love her sofa. The color and style is right up my alley! And it also looks like it’s perfect for the space it’s shown in. Amazing if this is her space

Yes, the lighter blues and lavender could be another take on it, Abby. Although I overall personally prefer more saturation of color against yellow/gold.
Here’s another one that I didn't post the other day - with a lavender chair. I think the deeper blues, black, red - as well as the deep purple accent pillow on the chair -keeps the gold/lavender from looking washed out and/or mismatched.

The gold color of her sofa would blend with lavender better than the sofa in the visual above does. At least from what I can tell from the appearance of her sofa color on my screen. A lavender could be nice. - 2 days ago
