Here is the original wallpaper. Would you consider wainscoting to cut the amount of paper needed in half?

Trying to understand how you can jump from a large-scale pattern to a small-scale pattern. Is it the Trellis pattern that attracts you? Is it the colors. What is driving your selection?

Here are trellis patterns from less expensive companies. The large scale wallpaper is more common from boutique brands like Quadrille. The drop repeat on the pattern is great and so there's more waste.

Are you planning to wallpaper all four walls. requiring a total of 912 square feet of wallpaper?

I don't have any good pics really plus I was hesitant to post the photos due to the architecture is just so bad 😝. That doesn't mean I won't enjoy some wallpaper nevertheless! we have on order black easy breeze windows for this room and we have not planned the floor yet. I am considering opal essence by Ben Moore for the ceiling along with some woodworking details my husband plans on adding. I would consider wainscoting indeed if it would look good with this type of architecture! I also ordered Raphael by Sandberg samples which I can totally live with but it's not my fave ! Wd cruise it is somewhere in the 800 sq ft range according to a wallpaper specialist I spoke with to get a rough estimate. It is an asymmetrical ceiling with windows and doors so it is a bit of a bugger !

I think it's the colors Beverly that gets me the most. I would prefer to stay off white back ground with either apple green and or navy or turquoise. I do love the large scale pattern of the Persepolis pattern as well I suppose if price were not a factor. I did see this inspiration photo online with black windows tho which is what pointed me towards the Katie ridder one and the colors look nice to me. At the end of the day it will be price that is the final factor.

Hmmm the room feels pretty comtemporary with the ceiling and large black windows - I’d put a pin in wallpaper until it’s finished, you might decide to skip it

Not a fan of this combo if you are narrowing down to these; not flattering together, little girl’s room vibe and not sure how it will work with black windows.

Do you already have furniture picked out or an inspiration room you could show, to get a better sense of how you want room to feel? If you adore an expensive paper, what do you think of only papering the ceiling? Suggest one that has a bit of black to tie in the windows.

Then pick a dramatic or neutral paint color to complement paper and pull the room together.

The room is contemporary, wallpaper selections are traditional. IMO you are headed down the wrong road, and you started at the wrong location.

SELECT THE RUG FIRST!!! It will make your life easier.

Then use the colors of the rug to select your items which may or may not be wallpaper. I would NEVER use those wallpaper in that room. NEVER!!

Here is a possible solution for this room.

I'd add batten strips to the wall as an overall texture for the room.

OR, I'd consider covering the walls in raffia woven wallcovering.

Thank you for your opinion Beverly. My husband wanted to add strips originally so I am open to completely changing it up. I'm sure he will love to know I had him hang and finish all that drywall for no good reason 😬I love that plain raffia you have here also so I will contemplate this for a bit ! I just want it to look the best it can!

Also whoever suggested wallpaper on the ceiling only .... I love it just probably not brave enough lol

I have wood strips in my home and we had to sand and finish the drywall first. You install just wood strips on top of the drywall. The walls are NOT wood.

Then we glued and nailed the lath strips on the face of the drywall. Have to caulk the wood seam on each strip. But the final appearance is great.

This bedroom I did for a client was 8 ft for the strips and then the balance of the wall was raffia. It's a cozy appearance

Never would have thought about raffia in my whole life now I'm obsessed 🤩 🤣

Now that I understand I was trying to pick traditional for my very not traditional house I am a little worried about these lantern pendants I ordered for above my kitchen island ... I got two holborn smalls in old white from visual comfort. It might not be too late for me to cancel them 🤷‍♀️ do you think they will look out of place with that sloped ceiling and all ?

lighting is super personal I think - everyone has different tastes. The small is 14" in width? I am wondering if they may be too small for the scale of the space - if it were me, I would mock them up using string and balloons blown up to the diameter - for us non-pros I find it's the easiest way to judge pendant scale in a new build -

You can have traditional accent pieces in a contemporary space.

For as much as they cost, they should be an exquisite accent to the kitchen and IMO they are Mhe. Probably too small for starters. The room volume is vast.

IMO the quality of light from exposed light bulbs is not good unless the brightness is kept at candlelight levels. Very low and soft. And IMO you're trying to use the lights to accent the island.

I worked on canceling them Friday but finally learned this morning it was too late ! You are correct they cost way too much money but at least they were on open box sale.

A little update. There was a credit card/address discrepancy w my order of these lanterns and so my cc declined the transaction after all! This is great news seeing as like Beverly pointed out I over spent for little reward ! Now I'm thinking to look for those woven ones above 👆

Also we still have not decided whether we will do all board and batten or do a little raffia above the board and batten depending on how that pesky architecture works out once we look at it again !
