Ah, the 1960's, Mediterranean, and pecan. Been there! Don't do black...the pieces are too heavy and the pieces will look like caskets.

Here is one suggestion: a creamy off white for the cabinets and a coordinating white for the chairs. Leave the table top as is and paint the legs the cream color.

You can either paint the backs of glass doors another color or go with a peel and stick wall paper.

Then there are the doors...the design and applique is why the 60's furniture style didn't stay around very long. See if you can reverse the doors. Or, have a cabinet make remove the center panel and flip it, so the panel is flat.
