The first looks like a variegated Haworthia. I bought a similar plant on Ebay, same colors, thinner leaves, it's called Aloe 'wansley' variegated..very tiny. I'll have to snap pics. deeagaux, thanks very much. I just got back from the dealer's, and your advice was invaluable. The dishwasher and warming drawer looked perfect, even though both had been used. The Master Chef Speed Oven, though, was another story. It had all the trays, manual and probe inside it, so the guy looked slightly askance at me as I practically put my head into the cavity for a second look at the oven interior. The second time, I noticed that the roof of the oven was covered with black/brown flecks and chunks of food. I told him that I'd take the dishwasher and warming drawer, but that I wasn't interested in the oven. God knows what that would smell like when it was hot! He said he'd get it cleaned up, but he needn't do so on my account. I may spring for a Master Chef after all, but it will be a new one. I asked where the stainless toekick for the dishwasher was and he said that he thought they only came in black. He said he'd get me one (but I'm thinking it won't be stainless based on his initial answer. If stainless is what I should be holding out for, please let me know. I'll do some research in the meantime. Thank you again for your recommendations. The appliance market in Orlando, despite having several major dealers, isn't at all competitive. Full retail is the norm, package or no. Really aggravating. I bought my Capital Culinarian and ModernAire range hood insert from Trevor, saved myself sales tax (did have to pay a nominal fee for shipping, though), and doubled the manufacturer's wrarranty using my AMEX card. Tempted to do this for the D/W, speed overn and warming drawer, but it's easier to buy them out of the allowance in the house build budget. Thanks again!

Yes, Lucille, I guess it was the culmination of a lot of 'scares" over a relatively short time and longer term over my life! Recently I even had a mason replace the ancient basement windows of my new house with good double pane windows and a week later they all looked like a scene from Arachnophobia - that really freaked me out! Anyway, the box is still in the driveway! I intend to empty it into the trash when the barrel is out on the curb. I have rethought my plan for all the many plants I was planning to dig up and have decided to take only a special few. (in the back of a truck; not in my car!) That'll be enough. It's so hard to explain the indifference I feel, but yes, it's a line crossed that feels permanent......Annie - that sounded major, not minor! Trail, that's exactly what I mean, a major shift in one's life trajectory over a seemingly minor event. You had enjoyed and identified yourself with that career and suddenly, done! Mine being much less significant but still I've always felt myself a gardener. I suddenly don't any longer. Patty - I've seen nursery spiders with babies which is fascinating, but horrifying to me. Arcy-I would like to read about that family! and, yeah, gardening has always been a bit of a challenge for me, but I've managed. Until now. Rhizo, right now I feel too old to want to change or maybe it's about not wanting to put myself through the stress. There has always been tension there; I just don't want to inrease the odds that I'll have to deal with it. I'd be better off living in a condo, but I love land and space around me and my privacy. ....Apparently, the water hose vibrated out of the drain, so it's something I need to be aware and keep track of. As noted by mrb726, you definitely need to secure the drain hose to the standpipe/drain. The same thing happened with our Whirlpool Duet front loader. The lightweight drain hose propelled itself out of the drainpipe and flooded our laundry room. This happened about a month or so after we bought it. It turns out that the washer shipped with a nylon tie-wrap for securing the drain hose but the Sears installation crew forgot to install it. The drain pan is a great idea but it may not help much if one of your supply lines bursts. The water can fly all over the place and very little may end up in the pan. So use high quality supply hoses and keep an eye on them. Sometimes they develop an aneurism or bulge before they fail. Insurance companies have reported that failed supply hoses are one of the leading causes of home floods. Is your laundry room on the second floor? If so, be aware that if the interior of your walls got soaked you could end up with a mold problem. This can especially be an issue if the fiberglass insulation in the outer walls gets soaked since it can take a while to dry out. (I'm guessing that you're probably OK since it sounds like the pan caught most of the overflow.)
