Identify this plant Please

Rio Grande Valley Texas. This just sprouted up out of no where and there are at least two or three of them also sprouting not sure where they came from. Flowers are red, make me think of water willow or maybe a honeysuckle? Help please

As a Mediterranean plant, Nerium oleander likes hot, dry summers. Among its many varieties, only a few are hardy below Zone 8. 'Hardy Red' and 'Hardy Pink' are more popular. We have had troubles with 'Hardy Red' in the cold winters when the Zone 7b minima were reached, but this may have been due to poor siting (too much shade), so we keep trying. PDN sells 'Mathilde Ferrier' and is quite assertive of its Zone 7b hardiness. There are also several European varieties grown successfully in Germany and Austria.

Since this house does not have an exposed foundation and has architectural details that extend nearly to the ground it might be best to not plant anything at its base. (Which would be why shrubs only 4 ft. tall appeared to be swallowing it). Rather to have vertical garden features - including planting - to look at and enjoy elsewhere on the property, far enough from the house to not hide any of it. Or at least not the front of it.

It looks like the wheat straw you put down with the grass seed was also full of seed that germinated with the lawn grass seed. The wheat straw seed is an annual. Just mow it and ignore it. It won't come back next year if you don't let it go to seed.

I don't know what it is but it looks more like Acanthaceae than Lamiaceae to me.

Salvia penstemonoides has larger calyxes, a square stem, sessile upper stem leaves and a lemon/lime fragrance. Salvia penstemonoides is very rare, and was once thought to be extinct. Though this plant does resemble Justicia spicagera,(Mexican Honeysuckle), this plant has long petioles, whereas Justicia spicagera has winged petioles. Compare with Dicliptera sexangularis, Acanthaceae. Dicliptera sexangularis has been classified as Justicia assurgans in the past and one of it's common names is False Mint.
