How did you decide how high to mount your TV on the wall?
Comments (14)Thanks all for this input. Very helpful. Today I built a fake tv out of Fedex boxes I had at the office and placed it at various heights from 46-54 inches and sitting at the same height and distance as my living room would be. Personally, while my eye level was between 40-43” depending on the seat and my slouch position, I found my eye naturally resting at at between 46-50 inches. My couch, dining chairs and comfy sitting chairs all have a little natural recline to them. I decided to install my electrical outlets and wiring at a position that gives me a range to decide between 46-52 center once I’m ready to mount. This decision seems to vary for a lot of people so I’ll summary why I am doing a mount (even if it’s only a few inches above console) and why that height: I have a few different places to sit/see TV: comfy lounging chairs, my couch, dining table and my open kitchen. Mounting with an arm gives me an opportunity to adjust depending on what’s being used I am using a soundbar and want to make sure the sound field is adjusted as the tv moves so sound travels in the right direction based on which way tv is pointing. My placement allows me to upgrade tv to a bigger size while keeping center the same My soundbar adds an extra 3.5” to bottom of tv so I can mount a little higher if needed while preserving the right space between console and tv I have my eye on a 27” high console I really like. To do that, I need my center of tv to be at 47”ish so that the soundbar can clear the console and float Would like to get sound of the bar closer to ear level versus really low to the ground....See MoreHelp! Comments (26)So we love the brick and wouldnt want to cover it up + we could use the extra storage space. We’re also going for a more MCM vibe, given the house is pure MCM architecture and well, we like that style… and so MCM furniture is one way to create that vibe vs cs. just normal modern. The reason we like grey is because it’s a neutral and we’re not a fan of the wall paint providing the color, because you are stuck with it (until you paint again) and it can be over-powering (unless that’s what you really want)… where as we like neutral because it allows us to layer in color and texture, etc. and balance a vibe through iteration. That said, we were considering going with a cool white instead (maybe BM Decorator White), but are unsure… @JustMe - Any specific BM white you like?...See MoreIdeas? Huge wall with TV
Comments (11)The plant isn’t a requirement... but would be difficult to move. We don’t have many other sunny spots to put it. Yes I did consider a long console and mounting the tv. And then my husband promptly asked me why do we need to mount the TV if we have a console??? And I didn’t really know what to say to that, lol 😂 Would you recommend a washable rug? I’ve heard of them but I don’t know anything about them...See MoreAdvice on bedroom layout with seating and TV
Comments (7)That sounds like a lot of seating. The dressers are the wrong scale for this space. Get a bureau for the TV wall (facing the foot of the bed) and get a tabletop TV that sits on top...not a wall mount. I think a low loveseat (at the foot of the bed) and nice big round ottoman plus the new bureau should be enough furniture to balance the space. Especially with drapes and your purple chair and a dressing mirror. Definetly get drapes and be sure to hang them wider than the window frame. A nice large rug for the whole room will cozy up and unify both halves. Leave about 2 feet perimeter of wood floor all the way around. I have a concept drawing attached (not to scale). There is room for your purple armchair as part of a dressing area with a long floor or wall mirror to the left of the window....See MoreRelated Professionals
