Floating shelves or connected shelves?
Comments (4)I love the lighting for the area, you have an opportunity to choose either to draw in the eye to this wall or have it blend in. I would choose floating shelves to have it stand out, you can have fun deciding the shelf placement too. whatever you decide, best of luck (:...See MoreFloating wood shelves
Comments (1)You might do best with a local sawmill. I've never been to any of them in your area, but if you google Suffolk county NY sawmills you'll find a couple of decent looking possibilities. "Reclaimed wood" and "affordable" are pretty incompatible terms these days. The hipsters are snapping it up at greatly inflated prices for their creations. Get kiln dried wood if it's available in a species you like, it will be much more stable. 2" thick green lumber should be allowd to dry for a good two years prior to use in any application where dimensional stability and absense of cracks is important....See Morefloating Shelves in kitchen remodel?
Comments (11)if you are redoing counters I would replace the lowers w sets of stacked drawers..looks like a 36 inch/ a 21 inch / and an 18 inch are about your sizes. storage obtained would allow reducing one of the uppers and that is a possibility. Kitchen this size would handle ikea easily .....no corners// improved and efficient storage/ good looking options/ low cost. I absolutely would not put new counters on this small kitchen while leaving hinged lowers....See MoreFloating shelves height?
Comments (11)Great job on the TV wall. It is really impactful, and is going to dwarf any shelves you place there. I don't think you need to put anything on the wall. The TV dominates and is enough. I would consider getting a much larger floor plant, a tall fig or palm that helps take some of the attention away from the TV and soften the edges. If you want more than one plant, cluster them together to the left of the TV. Asymmetry is going to look better here than flanking both sides. I'm also curious how it will look placing one of the sofas where the arm chairs are and the arm chairs on the side where the sofa was. I think having the black wall and black chairs across from each other really makes the sofas on the side feel like they are an after thought. With the sofas as an L, it will make the set up feel more cohesive....See MoreRelated Professionals
